This is with 6.2 Beta 1 on Windows 8.1

I know this has been discussed before but I can't find the thread(s) relating to it.

When I open a Bible to a particular verse (in this case "open NIV to Mark 3:20") from the command line I would expect it to open so that the requested verse is at the top of the Bible

As shown below this is not the case:

For the work I am doing at the moment I wanted to look at verses 20-21 and 31-35.

If verse 20 had been at the top this would have worked just fine.

If I enter the verse into the reference field in the Bible itself it sometimes positions the verse at the top of the panel and sometimes it doesn't.

Any reason why it works this way? And can it be changed so that the requested verse is at the top?

Thanks, Graham

Works on Bet 1 using Windows 7. I have mine set to auto so I get 2 Columns due to the size of my monitor.

Hi Lynden - thanks for the response

Interesting - when I have it set that way I get the issues I describe - though I think it does depend where the Bible is open when you start.

I find it often misses by a verse or two. So, the verse I asked for might be on the page before it shows, or I might only get half of the verse I asked for.

I created a case for an issue very similar to this, and I think this probably shares a root cause. I've added a link to this thread, and if it's deemed a separate issue I'll make a specific case.

I've just noticed that the NIV(84) translation is much more likely to open to the exact verse requested that the NIV(2011) version.

I don't know if this helps tracking things down.
