When I open Logos, or switch to a new layout, any searches I leave open, re-execute. This can be a bit of a drag on the system, and it would be nice if there was a way by default to not execute a search until it is executed by the user.
I just ran a search and then switched layouts but did not experience this. Perhaps you could tell us how you switched layouts and provide before and after screeenshots of the layouts.
Sorry about the lag time in replying.
When you close a layout, do you close your search box first? I always have my search box set to "send searches here," with the "bulls-eye" so each search does not open a new window.
I frequently update my active layouts so I don't lose the settings if there is a problem. If I close any layout with the search box open, upon re-opening, it re-executes the search. For example, I ran the search, "Forgive," search all Bible text, in Matthew-Revelation, in English Standard Version. For results I chose "Analysis," which is a big job for Logos and my computer. It doesn't take super-long, but takes noticeably longer than simply "Verses." I use "Analysis" quite a lot. I also check, usually, "Match all word forms."
So, upon exit, this search is still active, even if the window is still only a tab, and not immediately visible.
If I reopen this layout, that search runs again, taking a lot of resources from the CPU as Logos is trying to load all my other resources. This is especially evident if I am trying to start Logos, and not simply re-open a layout.
I was thinking a "Go" or "Start" button might be nice on the search engine, rather than having it just start.

Normally I close searches after I've used them and before … well, normally I use one layout … before opening another. When I ran the test for your problem I DID NOT close the search window. You mention saving your layout frequently. I suspect you have saved a layout with a search open (I'm not sure how that would work). Perhaps that's the source of your problem. If so, close the search then save the layout.
I think that is my problem, leaving searches, exegetical guides, passage guides, word studies, etc. open when I close a layout. When re-opening the layout all these things re-activate and drag the system down.
As in my original post, a "start" or "go" button would allow me to leave these things open, but they wouldn't restart until I request it.
Thanks for the advice!
