Not sure if this is the best place for this discussion.

I'm finding myself quite disappointed in the Faithlife News feed on FaceBook (at least what I'm seeing).

The posts seem to have a lot more to do with right-wing US politics and reactionary rhetoric than actual news. Today I saw three posts: one about free speech infringements on a California University campus, an opinion piece on the reporting by "the liberal media" of the UVA, falsified rape case, and one about how Obama is linking global warming to health hazards. (Some of this is how FB is pushing up some articles over others onto my FB news feed, but these are the sort of articles I choose to "unsee" from my friends.)

Regardless of the newsworthiness of the above, what are those articles doing on Faithlife? The "about" page claims to "Track news from your favorite Christian sources around the web." Wow. If those are people's favorite Christian sources for news, we're in trouble.

I expect a higher standard from Faithlife than this level of so-called "news."

I see it now. I have to agree with your sentiments. Too much stuff about what is happening in the United States. More content about Christians and other Religion and their impact/influence on the Christian faith.

I know there are other articles that do seem to fit better with Faithlife's mission and customers. But some of the other articles just don't measure up to what I expect from Faithlife.

To see what's coming out of the Faithlife News feed you can also go to this web page (updates every 15 minutes). You'll see some good content, but mixed in with it is the drivel.

Oh you guys.  You forget the western church used to be called the Caesarians.  It's deja vu time.  Christianity is politics, as in the 5th century.

I guess I'm just not from the Caesarian section. [insert groan here]

Thank you for your feedback.  Faithlife News is gathering momentum, but you are correct in your assement of some of the content.  The app pulls in content from about 30 different "news" sources.  Although we can't control the content they publish we can control which sources are used.

If you have a Google account please help us further by filling out a brief survey about Faithlife News:  http://goo.gl/forms/g21d33fCNR

Thanks for the explanation.

Did the survey. Took a while, since most of those web sites I'd never heard of before.

Rich,

I appreciate your thoroughness, thank you for taking the time to fill out the survey.  At the top of the form it says people can skip sources they are unfamiliar with, but I probably need to make that more clear.

We are working to make Faithlife News better and your feedback plays a big part in that.  Feel free to send any additional suggestions my way.

Finding quality Christian news sources is a huge challenge. So many are of poor quality.

I just remembered a source I should have put on as a suggestion. It's from a decidedly Pentecostal point of view, has some interesting stuff, but I wouldn't give it more than a 3 on the 1-5 scale: Breaking Christian News
