We need better ways to organize the items on the File | Open menu.  Right now it seems that items are presented in Last Modified Date order.  It's nice that there's a Search box there.  Will at least need an alphabetic view.  Possibly also the ability to organize things by type (right now all L4 "entities" are mixed together) and the ability to create subfolders.  (Currently the workaround is to create subfolders in Favorites to point  to various things, but we should have a direct way to organize without create Favorites).

Thanks,

Peter

I wouldn't mind some extra sort options. However if you type clippings, notes etc into the find box it will pare the list down to just that file type.

My preference is alphabetic within type

What if the list of file types wasn't only there to "Create New" files, but actually served as a list of folders, which (when hovered over) would reveal files of that type?

Jonathon we have asked for this sort of design many times so you have might support and that of others.  Hopefully Logos will catch the vision on how much user content we all intend creating and the simple menu we have at the moment just isn't going to be the best option.

Issue will be whether they have designed the underlying database in such a manner that there won't be performance issues in trying to load such a menu structure, however it is presented.

I really hope your suggestion will be accepted! The existing layout is not very functional and poorly designed...
