Does anyone know what happens when the hardcopy Göttingen Septuagint gets updates? Does Logos automatically inlude them?

And if you have the electronic set, does it mean you also get these updates? Or will it become a separate update that you have to buy?

The update will likely never ship in Logos. I went with Accordance. The new Edition is extremely expensive - which shows a lot of valuable work went into it - the publisher has to profit for several years while it's new.

Never say never! Hopefully they can work something out for the new volumes.

BTW, the Logos version has quite a few volumes that I don't think are in Accordance yet - Sapientia Salomonis, Tobit, Job, Iudith, Habacuc, Susanna, Bel and the Dragon...

Generally speaking if a publisher produces a print book and later re-releases as a revised edition, we typically follow suit and produce it as a new resource. This isn't a hard and fast rule but more often than not it's the strategy we try to take. One of the major rationales for this are cases where the pagination changes. In a case like the Gottingen Septuagint there would be years of research citing an edition that we essentially no longer carry or support.

Dear all,

I had a private chat with Mr. Rietveld, and what he means by "updates" are new volumes that are added to the series. So, if someone bought the Göttingen LXX in 2012, will he automatically receive the 2 Chronicles (Paralipomenon II) volume issued in 2014 or does he have to purchase it separately?

Thanks for your attention.

Welcome to the forums Theo van der Louw.

The key word there is "update" versus "upgrade"  It seems the question then is about "upgrades" (new volumes that are added).  Faithlife generally charges a fee to produce new material.  Luthers Works is an example.  One main set and a few Upgrades to add missing volumes.

Does that help?
