Power outage has messed up my Logos installation

At the instant of a freak and momentary power outage, I had Logos 6 (and web browser) software running on my PC. When the power returned within seconds the web browser functioned normally, but Logos 6 did not.

Immediately after the power's return, the Logos shortcut icons were all white - the logo missing from the icon from both the taskbar and desktop icons, leaving each icon nothing but a white shape. When clicked, the icons returned a message about the file locations for those icons having been moved or deleted.

So from the Logos program folder I created a new desktop shortcut to the Logos 6 .exe file. Clicking either the .exe file in the program folder or the desktop shortcut produced the Logos Bible Software splash screen for 15 seconds or so, which then disappeared and nothing else happened. After that, Logos was then not included in the list of running programs, and when the splash screen was alive, the running programs list did not include Logos the application, but rather Logos the file folder.

I then downloaded the Logos 6 core engine - which is the level of Logos 6 I have installed - installer. When I started that installer, the message returned was that Logos was up to date. But still nothing happened after the splash screen.

Undaunted, I used Revo Uninstaller Pro to remove Logos 6, thinking I could reinstall via the core engine installer. Revo gave a message that it could remove only certain layers of the program - I guess, the Logos 6 engine. I successfully did that, as well as I removed several Logos-related registry entries. I then rebooted the PC.

Logos no longer showed in the Revo Uninstaller list of installed programs (nor in Windows/Control Panel/Uninstall a Program), but a Logos 6 icon was still on my desktop. I clicked that icon, and the result was again the Logos splash screen for 15 seconds or so, followed by nothing.

I tried running the core engine installer again, but this time the message was setup could not download a required file. A search suggested two approaches to that issue: 1) Firewalls - which I turned off completely as a test, to the same bad result; 2) Issues with the Windows Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). Using the suggested courses of action produced no change in the outcome.

I am left in installation limbo, and I don't know what to do next. Logos Bible doesn't appear in the list of installed programs, but its icons produce a temporary Logos splash screen. And the Logos installer can't download required files.

I will contact Logos support, but before their Tuesday office hours, do you have any ideas?

If your machine took a hit during the power burp there could be a number of problem. I would let tech support try to diagnose.
