I rebooted my system earlier, unrelated to L4, and when the system came up again I got a message indicating that L4 was indexing. I thought that was a little strange because I didn't think L4 would index without the application running. So I started L4 and the system continued to index until I got a windows' message that the indexer had stopped. The message later dissappeared and I assumed the index had restarted. It's been some time now (my system usually indexes pretty fast). There's no blue icon in my system tray indicating that it's indexing but if I attempt a search I get the typical message about missing or incorrect results because it's indexing.

Here's my silly question: Is it really indexing? First of all, I haven't received any new resources nor has there been a recent download. There's normally the little blue Icon indicating indexing in the system tray but it's not there. Task Manager shows almost no activity. Given the earlier windows' message, I'm wondering if something is awry. Should I "rebuild index", wait it out or what?

It sounds like that at some point your indexer crashed and when that happens it will try to restart indexing whenever you reboot or restart Logos 4. You may never have seen the indexer crash message. The fact you have the message during searching indicates that your index is incomplete.

You can try 'rebuild index' but I'd encourage you to first enable logging if you haven't so that if it does crash again, we'll have it documented. To enable logging see this page:

http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging

If you get a crash zip the Logos4Indexer.log file found in My Documents\Logos Log Files and attach it to a message here using the paperclip icon in the Compose Message panel.

57625.Logos4Indexer.log

Well, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this but it crashed. So, here the file attached. Meanwhile I'll try the rebuild index command....

That is a typical not-too-helpful crash log. If rebuild does not work, delete the contents of your LibraryIndex folder found here:

C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\{random string}\LibraryIndex (this is the Windows 7 location).

When you reopen Logos 4 it will start to rebuild your index. You should be fine after that (just takes awhile).
