The beta of El Capitan does not permit Logos 5 to run.  It just hangs - goes nowhere.

Same problem here. I probably should have checked that before upgrading all of my Macs. Sad

Hi Jimmy,

I had no issues with the previous Beta of OS10.  Logos worked fine.  This time there is a small hiccup.  My Mac desktop is still running Yosemite.  Running the IOS9 Beta on my iPad and I can access my Logos library fine.  Vyrso is still allowing me access too.  Akin to another act of faith...

Same problem here.  My whole system has been sounding like it was going to take off since I upgraded to the beta.  I hadnt even tried to open Logos yet, so it took me a bit, but I finally figured out it was the Logos indexer that was killing my computer.  78% CPU utilization.

Hopefully you've all seen the threads in Logos 6 and General that El Capitan is bad news for Logos users. More importantly, you are on your own as Faithlife do not support (and have never supported) Logos on a beta OS, incl. Windows 10.

Also, do not expect support for Logos 5 when El Capitan goes "Gold", so it is best to upgrade to the free Logos 6 engine which will be supported on a stable El Capitan.

Hi Johnny,

On my Yosemite desktop I still use Logos 4.  I thought I would download and instal the logos 6 engine.  That refuses to even start.  It just bombs out straight away.  I tend to think that it may not be simply that the OS is to fault.  Thank the Lord every day for small mercies - like the invention of paper Idea

Neither my Logos or Verbum will open with El Capitan aka OSX 10.11 Beta.  Good thing it worked on my iPad or sermon prep this week would have been challenging.  Oh, I'm already running Version 6.

Any fixes coming, Logos?....PLEASE!!!

Welcome to the forums. The problem may be in the OS not Logos. Being "dead in the water" is a risk of running a beta OS. Logos commits to running on stable versions not on beta versions.

Stewart, have you resolved this? There was a problem with Yosemite regarding the Logos 6 dock icon not functioning correctly. I think this was resolved, but FWIW see Mike Binks' and Jack Caviness' posts linked below.

Of course if you post some logs more qualified help will surely examine them and report back to you.

If you have Logos 5 and Verbum 5 then see my post above regarding its viability on a new OS, and also note that Logos/Verbum 6 still has issues with the 10.11 beta  -->  check status in the Logos 6 forum.

El Capitan Beta 2 released last night resolved my issue.  Now able to access my full library.

Awesome news!  I guess I will reinstall it tonight as I like to be a good public beta tester. Thanks so much for posting this succdess, Stewart.  I really appreciate it.  God's richest blessings to you and yours.

I'm presently running El Capitan 10.11.3 and, as of picking up that OS X update, I've the same symptoms.

  • Download the latest Logos 6
  • Install
  • Launch - I get "Logos" on the menubar and the activity monitor shows it running for a while (using almost no CPU). Then, after several minutes it exits on its own accord.
  • Reboot and running it fresh from start doesn't change the symptoms.

So, at present, I'm without Logos on OS X (and can't use it offline when on my iPad Pro--which is a different issue I've submitted a problem report on.)

You can get official support if you have trouble installing Logos 6, or you can report the issue in the Logos 6 forum and get advice from other Mac users.

Thanks Dave,

I searched around and found the page describing how to completely uninstall Logos 6 from OS X

https://wiki.logos.com/OS_X_Troubleshooting#Uninstalling_Logos_for_Mac

After following those instructions and deleting everything, I rebooted and reinstalled.

It seems to be working OK now -- guiding me through a new install and pulling everything down again (about 10 GB!)  The app is up and operational--just with missing resources until they arrive.

Maybe my experience will help anyone else who encounters the same symptoms.
