In Logos 5 and I think 4 I could right click a word in Hebrew or Greek and get the popup window to copy or lookup the word similar to the popup window in version 6. In the older version I could access any of the lexicons I own from that window, for example HAL, BDB, Gesenius and/or the Dictionary of Biblical Languages with Semantic Domains. That disappeared. Only HAL shows up when I do a search. Is there an option in setup to return to the older version of the popup window. I find this very frustrating. Instead of studying the Bible I'm studying the Logos software. This is how I have experienced every Logos update - frustration and lost time.

I guess what I'm asking is how to look up a word in the text in the different language resources I have in my library.

You should still see your five highest prioritised, relevant, lexicons. You may need to scroll down to see them

Please post a screenshot

Strange that only one lexicon shows up.

Roger, did you prioritize your Lexicons?

Logos is powerful software for doing Bible study. Please do not get frustrated, but ask for help.

Hi Roger;

I opened the BHS/WIVU and right-clicked a word in 2 Samuel 12:1. Does your popup look similar to either of these screenshots? The 1st screenshot is when "selection" is selected. The 2nd is when "Lemma" is selected.

Thanks Hans, I've been using Logos since before it was Logos, when it was called Word and was a project at Dallas Seminary. I find all software engineers make more changes than are necessary. More gradual changes would be more helpful. I figured there was something in settings I was missing. I'll try these suggestions. ;-)

The first screen shot is what I get. The second is the older version I can't find. Where do you access the options, "selection" and "lemma"? Thanks!

I tried it and only get the first screenshot. I don't find the "selection" and "lemma" choices. Where would that be? I looked in tools and program settings and don't find it. Thanks!

It's the right hand side of the context menu. I think it is the root of your problem even though it hasn't changed recently. It is the brighter item on the two pictures - selection on the top image; lemma on the bottom image.

This is what I get. I don't see any resources.

Tried to post a screen shot and it didn't work. Don't know how to do it apparently. ;-)

That worked. Have to select the band that says lemma in the bottom half of the right half of the popup window. Everything is there, just hard to find. Thanks very much everyone.

How do you post a screenshot? I've tried 3 times now and it doesn't show up.

I see that MJ has answered. Upon right-click, it will default to selection, and you will need to select the Lemma further down the list.

Once you get used to the menu function, it will be very easy. Smile

2. browse to the file you wish to insert

3. click insert

I use to have that problem, and found that saving the screenshot in png format seems to work best.

Once you have your screenshot in a file, use the paperclip to post.

EDIT: I like MJ's descriptive graphic better. Yes

I've [only] been using Logos for a few years, but it still seems backward to me.  Being a right-to-left work-flow, perhaps it was designed by a Hebrew scholar : >

Only a few years for me as well. Logos is the only system that I considered really learning how to use, as opposed to using just as a conduit to read and study the Bible electronically. I still have a lot to learn.

They say most people only use about 5% of the features of any software, Pareto's Law. It's to be expected and is fine. I've been using Logos and it's predecessor since the mid 1990's but I still probably use only 5% of what it is capable of doing. However, that 5% is what I need and have time for. It's a life saver for me as a missionary in Mexico. I've lost track of how many resources I have in my library. I use it constantly.

My frustration with the program is that the updates always cost me time to relearn what was routine before, time I don't have to spare. "Seamless transition" is always a big disappointment, never happens. I also find it frustrating that the program takes over your screen when it starts up. I've suggested that the fix this. I'd like to let the program start while I finish an email without Logos taking over the screen in the middle of typing. It takes 4 hours to index the program, slowing down your computer. And lately, the program freezes, "program not responding." Today it did that and I could not get it to turn off, even using program manager.

Even with all these annoyances I would not trade Logos for anything else. Too much invested and no other program does what Logos can do. A veritable research assistant. Now I use it on my Android device and read the books on Vyrso. It is indeed a wonderful tool.

Many blessings to all. Thanks for your help. I think we're back on track again.
