Having upgraded to El Capitan on my MacbookPro 16GB Ram, 500GBSSD, i7 Core I now find that Logos simply isn't working like it should. Not only is it horribly slow, the exegetical guide simply wouldn't open the Word by Word option - I gave up after waiting 5 minutes and resorted to my old, underpowered windows 7 laptop which in comparison is now blazingly fast :(

All I had open was a Multiple Resource panel with an NIV Bible, the NIV Zondervan Study Bible Notes and the NET Bible notes. I was trying to use the Exegetical Guide for 1 Cor. 13:13 and it's not only been very slow the Word by Word option simply wouldn't populate. I have no idea how to send a log on my Mac and quit Logos so probably can't send one now?

Big thanks

Cheryl

How full is your hard drive? What kind of drive is it? How large & how much free space?

The step by step instructions are in the link in my signature line. Otherwise, it might be good for you to call customer service.

The brief steps: You will enable logging via the helper app, start Logos, replicate the issue (since your issue is "slowness," give it a bit of time), then use the "sample" button on the helper app.

Thanks for your help Alabama24 I will try to follow your advice.

My HDD is solid state and I've got 330GB free of 499GB.

Big thanks!

Having a "too full" hard drive can cause problems, but that doesn't appear to be the case with you. Having a traditional hard drive (which is what you have) DOES make things slow, but they shouldn't be slower now than before.

Some possible reasons for your issue:

  • you may have an issue with your hard drive (it could be crashing)
  • you may have some corrupted files.

There may be other issues as well. Hopefully the logs will reveal more.

Ignore what 'bama said about "helper" and just follow the instructions on the web site

Sorry. Embarrassed I was using common language and not the technical name, which is the "Logos Logging Utility"... which is an app to help (hence "helper app") to assist non-technical users in enabling, capturing and zipping log files.

Here's the log

Unfortunately, the log shows operations taking an acceptable length of time. It would be best to contact Tech Support directly as they can log onto your computer to see what is happening.
