Good morning.  I just had a quick question: Is there a reason mp4s are transcoding and downloading again to my computer. There is no noticeable change in quality so I was wondering what the extra step is for?

Thanks!

Are you uploading mp4s originally?

Yes. I haven't changed anything in my workflow.

We use a third party encoding service to transcode to MP4 as well as generate thumbnails. Looks like we're reporting "Transcoding" when we're really just grabbing thumbnails. Should be really quick, is this your experience?

It is pretty quick but the video does download again.

That's true for all upload, should have always been that way... There is definitely room for optimization here but the current workflow makes the code simpler with less chance of related bugs.

Ok, I guess I just didn't notice that the video downloaded again after the upload.  It's no problem, just something I noticed. Thanks for looking into it!
