Jacob Cerone:

To have access to the Proverbs Explorer, you need to have Logos Gold.

Seems a little disingenuous to email Logos Now subscribers of new features if you cannot access them.

You should have access ... it appears to be a Mac problem. Unfortunately the office is closed at the moment, but if one person affected calls first thing in the morning and reports back, everyone should be fixed quickly.

JH:
If I scroll down far enough down in any list in the right panel, the verses stop being rendered and I just get the reference. Bug? Running OS 10.11.3 and Logos 6.9.0.0029. Screenshot below:

I am not able to reproduce this on Mac in 6.9 Sad What is the resource version of the Proverbs Explorer? (You can check this in the resource information panel)

JH, that's the same version we are testing on.  We are unable to reproduce this internally.  What Bible is selected, and what version of OS X are you running?  Just trying to find what we are doing differently.

Should he? It would not be specifically Mac if it was a licence problem. Faithlife should be careful in publicising Now features if they depend on a base package/crossgrade feature.

Feedback:

1) I really like the idea of expanding to the whole biblical corpus. Great idea, should be useful.

2) The description in the info panel needs to be updated as it still says it pertains to the book of Proverbs.

3) I am surprised and ambivalent about what might have been the inclusion criteria, realizing of course that this is a first shot that may be improved over time. I find that some of the references, for instance in Job, are poetry yes, but proverbs, perhaps not. So, it is a bit of a downer to find a number of passages that are not really proverbs. Or perhaps this is based on a different definition of a proverb, in which case, it would be good to provide that description in the info panel and the help file.

Overall, a good idea that can be very useful for some types of studies, with perhaps some ironing out needed.

Can you provide some examples that you believe are mis-classified as proverbs .. and suggest what you believe their classification to be?

Job 12:14; 22:2. There are other examples but I don't have time right now to go through the whole list. Right toward the beginning there is Dt 9:2.

The extra data in Volume 2 is good to have but there needs to be a new filter panel option, book of the bible.  I can see where someone might be preparing a study, preaching through a book or just doing there own personal study and they are only interested in looking at the book of Proverbs - with all this new data it is now not possible to do so.  An export to passage list would also be a useful addition.

Sorry, doc, but while I have no objection to book or author filtering, if someone wishes to preach through Proverbs and is incapable of determining if the passage is from Proverbs Tongue Tied Huh? Confused Zip it!

Yes, export to passage list would be useful as well as the additional filtering.

In the above examples, when I run a query in the form of <Job 12:14> NEAR proverb I get several hits that clearly treat it as a proverb so I'm guessing that the source Faithlife used has a broader definition of proverb than you. For me, the Dt 9:2 example, the context itself labels it a proverb or aphorism of some type. My concern with the data is a bit different in that I see what I would consider 3 or 4 separate proverbs treated as a single proverb e.g. Ec 9:16–18, Ec 11:1-4
