I guess I am one who thinks all pre-pubs should have a shelf life. That date should be set and maintained. So I am not bothered by what FL has done.

I do question how it was done. I think a one-two month warning to allow people to reassess their interest in pre-pubs about to be removed would have been nice. To change the system without warning or notice doesn't seem wise.

A well-known US coffee outlet has decided to change their buyer loyalty program. I got an email about it a week ago and the change will not occur until April. That gives time to make a few purchases under the existing program, if one wants to. That shows respect for their customers. FL might have done the same.

I wish they make a habit of warning their customers up coming big changes.

Agreed Mark.  If I would have known that some pre-pubs were "in trouble", I would have advertised them to others that would have possibly been interested.

Well said.

Disrespected is probably a fair descriptor of how I feel treated as of late.

All these big decisions that are being made that affect us (the customer) in our finances, in the books we want, from whom we purchase the books, and so forth seem capricious. While someone may have planned them friday and implemented them monday from our perspective they feel capricious and not part of some long term plan. It seems like you're (that is Faithlife is) being reactive (Eg on defense) rather than pro-active.

Its like you're day trading instead of participating in some long term investment strategy.

I don't understand why they can't leave a resource in pre-pub indefinitely. It doesn't cost them anything.

I asked that question, got a response and still agree with you ...

My guess is that that they believe it will focus spending. At the moment there are many $ in pre-pubs that aren't moving. I'm guessing FL believe that if they remove these people will immediately go and move the money into ones that remain giving the a greater chance of success and more real $ to FL

I don't think it will work that way though unfortunately for Logos. If I had something in Prepubs it was because I wanted it in Logos format. If Logos have decided not to publish an item and removed it from Prepub, then my first reaction is not to buy something else I didn't want from Logos in its place. I'll search around and buy what I originally wanted from some other vendor. Most of my cancelled prepubs are available from one or more other bible software companies now (already published and usually a significant price difference).

Annoying not to be able to get them in my favourite software format, but still perfectly usable to have them in another software format. And I'm finding In someways I quite like having a more restricted/specialised library available in the another software format outside my larger Logos library.

Hopefully the fact this has been cancelled means that Faithlife will now try and track down and add existing translations of Calvin's lectures and sermons. For example there's a new translation of Calvin's sermons on 1 Timothy on kindle for $2.99 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CAN113O/) endorsed by Tom Schreiner, Gerald Bray, Don Whitney, Tom Ascol and many others. I'm not really interested in buying sermons in kindle format, but if they were tagged in Logos to come up under 'Sermons' I would pay a lot more than $2.99.

Likewise, my Pre-Pubs (cancelled and retained) are things I want in Verbum/Logos format, but in my case, almost everything that I order or buy outright from FL I only want on the condition of being able to use it in Verbum, so my cancelled Pre-Pubs have not led to any more business for Amazon or elsewhere. Nor, however, have these cancellations led directly to me making purchases from FL that I would not have made anyway, but that is because my present budget for FL products exceeds the costs of the FL products that I want that are priced low enough that I am willing to order/buy them.
