That was an absolute killer feature for me, and I was also recommending Logos because of that to friends with Kindles.

Why is that no longer possible? Will it be possible again in the future?

RIP Send to Kindle:

Send-to-Kindle feature

You are receiving this email because you have used the send-to-Kindle feature in Logos 6. Due to a combination of technical, legal, and permission issues outside our control, we retiring this feature effective today. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you.

Books already sent to Kindle will not be affected by this change. You will be able to continue to enjoy them on your Kindle.

With O`Reilly at least you can download the .mobi and send it yourself, but with Logos you can´t even download the file, so you literally have no possibility to get the books to your kindle... Or am I wrong?

This is ridiculous, how could they get rid of this feature. I bought a kindle just for this feature!!

We demand it back!!

The demand needs to be made of Amazon rather than of Faithlife.

Not being able to send books to my Kindle will severely limit my future Logos purchases. I far prefer to read books that are mostly prose on my Kindle rather than my laptop or phone and it's nice to have them linked when I'm at my computer doing research. I've purchased a number of books through Logos just because this feature was available.

Is there another solution? I've never used Vyrso because the initial marketing for it had very inadequate explanations of how I would use it, on what devices and how it is related to my Logos content so I've never followed it since - plus I was happy with what I had.

This is a serious issue for me. I have a lot of non-Logos books on my Kindle. Am I going to have to buy yet another portable hardware platform to read Logos books as I would on my Kindle?

I would pay a small subscription fee or per book fee to use the Kindle.

Update:

Ok, I looked at Mark Barnes page on how to get books to Kindle. It looks doable thought I haven't tried it yet. It's still unfortunate.

Have a great day,
jmac

Due to a combination of technical, legal, and permission issues outside our control, we're going to retire the send-to-Kindle feature on 3/31. You'll be able to use the service through the end of the month. After that point, it will no longer work. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you.

Update: Books already sent to Kindle will not be affected by this change. You will be able to continue to enjoy them on your Kindle after 3/31.

I was pretty sure this was going to happen at some point.  The "A" company probably doesn't want to use its infrastructure to facilitate its competitors.  And publishers would rather you purchase the same work on multiple platforms to increase their influx of ducats.  So, if you want to read a title in "A" format, you need to buy it from "A".  Otherwise, you can manually transfer pertinent sections manually using the extant functionality.

I take issue with Faithlife for just suddenly dropping the feature with no notice whatsoever.  By the time I received the email, the feature no longer worked on my Logos program.

They could have given us some notice, even if only a few days.  That would have given me time to at least export as many as possible.  When I sold a large number of my print books last year in order to transfer over to Logos, one big reason I was willing to do so was knowing that I could export the books to Kindle.  That was really key for me.  Now, without warning, it's gone.

Yes, I know that Amazon was probably a big factor in this decision (or the publishers, or both).

But shame on Faithlife for not giving its customers any heads up, or any opportunity at all to export books before this feature disappeared altogether.

Now this is unfortunate. This was THE ONE feature why I was even building up my library. If Logos will not come up with an alternative to load books from the library on my Kindle (or on any other ebook reader for that matter), there won't be any other purchases from me for this closed system. Again, money wasted and lost, just because of a proprietory and closed system.
