This resource downloaded today, I can't find mention of it on the Logos site or on the forums. Is it a Logos Now resource, or part of a collection previously purchased?
Thanks!
It's permanent.
I subscribe to Now, also, but I don't have an indication that it's related. A product page (https://www.logos.com/resources/LLS_CIDBDOCDESILVA1/desilva-teaching-materials-volume-1 ) for it says it's part of Silver and above. I have Reformed Silver; maybe it's in that, too.
Thanks Robert!
Thanks [Y]
I have LOGOS GOLD, and I cannot find it anywhere as well.
For clarification, do you own a Logos 6 "gold" package? For example, if you previously purchased an L5 "gold" package and later purchased a cross grade, that wouldn't count.
If you do indeed own an L6 base package (silver or higher), then try running update now or update resources. Also, make sure download updates isn't time restricted in preferences.
I have logos 6 over edition and also logos now. I have a collection of De Silva PowerPoint presentations from various sites in the holy land. Try doing a media search for De Silva I've had these resources for quite a while now.
I do have a LOGOS 6 GOLD PACKAGE alabama24
I will try doing what you said, and see if that works.
Is there anyway to download the videos?
When I click on them it goes to biblia. I'm wondering how I can use then when away from internet
They are not videos, they are a collection of PowerPoint presentations. I have logos now and they may only be available in logos now.
There are both slides and videos. If you have now use the media browser and filter down to video
I am NOT a Logos Now user but I have had the download of the deSilva Teaching Materials, Volume 1 which shows in my library.
I am wondering if there is a problem somewhere as it states that it is for Silver or above (no mention of Logos Now) but the instructions on the product in my Library tell me to go the Media browser which is only for Logos Now users. "deSilva Teaching Materials, Volume 1IntroductionDive deeper into the cultural context of the Bible with the deSilva Teaching Materials, Volume 1. This media collection brings seminary-level teaching to your desktop. Distinguished professor and New Testament scholar, Dr. David. A deSilva, guides you through important locations in the biblical world through informative teaching and illustrative media of significant artifacts, archaeological sites, and more. The images used in the videos and slides are also available in the Logos media library.Usage 1. To display the entire collection of videos, slides, and images, under Tools select Media Browser. There will be an entry for “deSilva Teaching Materials, Vol. 1” under Collections (you may have to expand the list). • Click on a video still (marked with a play button) to open Biblica.com in your internet browser and view the video. 2. Do a search in “All Media” for “deSilva” to find the entire collection of videos, slides, and images. 3. When a video or slide has been tagged with a passage, the video will be shown in a corresponding Passage Guide under the Logos Media section. 4. When a video, slide, or image has been tagged with a person, place or thing, the corresponding Factbook page may display the matching video, depending on its priority. Media Search for the same item should always include the same video in its results."
Does anyone have information to state if it is or is not for no-Logos Now users??
I believe if you do a basic search for "cultural context" that should bring them up
If you go to the regular search tab, there is a "Media" section. You can search within that section for "deSilva" and it seems to pull up these new resources.
I have no Media Section under TOOLS in LOGOS.
Kenute, the Media referred to above is in the Search tool between Bible and Clause.
I found "Media" between Bible and Clause MJ. Smith but there is no Media there. Nothing on desilva teachings at all.
UPDATE: I found 4 of the videos just by typing in the word "desilva" and that was all.
This is very confusing.
ANOTHER UPDATE: Finally found all of them in MEDIA COLLECTIONS.
I have neither Gold nor Silver but Logos 6 Crossgrade and received this without any interest in it. Does anyone know why Logos sent it to us unwanted and un-ordered?

1. Media Browser is a part of "Logos Now," apparently, I don't subscribe to Now and don't have the media browser. For those of us limping along without Now, we can do this:
2. Search | Media --> Search all media in All resources for "DeSilva"
3. Open Favorites. Create a shortcut by dragging the open search tab over to Favorites. Rename it "DeSilva Media"
4. Hope for a good internet connection.
Final Analysis:
The available media , all 318 or 369 pieces (the jury is still out), are quite good.
I agree that it is really great stuff. I just wish we could download the videos

Thanks very much Gao.
These 20 videos are included in a collection titled The Cultural Context of the Bible and can be found in many L6 base packages, Logos Now, and Logos Cloud plus and above.
Thank you Derek. Is there a way to download then? When I click on a vide. it takes me to a website to watch

I've got 318 results from the search of "DeSilva", while 0 result from the whole title "DeSilva Teaching MaterialsVolume" can it be sorted out more specifically. Thanks.
0 result from the whole title "DeSilva Teaching MaterialsVolume"
That does not work in a Media search as you have discovered.
If you open the Manual that came with this download (it's in your Library) it has access instructions:
You'll find there that Passage Guide and Factbook are other ways to discover this information.
can it be sorted out more specifically
Do you mean can you add additional search criteria?
Here's one you can do in a Media search: DeSilva AND Sardis
Media Browser (a Logos Now Feature) has a number of ways to drill down to smaller groups of resources. Here's a partial screen shot of the browser for this collection. You can see the facets you can explore on the left.
Derek, I really enjoy these videos and slides but is there a way to make them downloadable so we can use them when away from the internet?
Mark,
Thank you so much for your help.
I noted that on your screen capture also indicated 369 results which is similar to my search this time. In your Media Browser there's 20 videos, are those what we're looking for?
As I haven't join Logos now, I didn't got the Media Browser, can I add a criteria to my media search as to sort out the 20 videos from the 369 results?
Thanks again!

I don't believe the videos can be downloaded (they're quite large). The accompanying slides can be saved, printed, or sent to Powerpoint or Keynote, so there are some options there for use without internet.
I carried out another search with "The Cultural Context of the Bible", nice to see that I got 40 results only.[:)]
I've created a short cut of it in "Favorites", I didn't aware of the tool before.

Yes, they are quite large but I used to be able to download them after they opened in Biblia (I mentioned as much in this thread). I can't remember how but there must've been a download option in the right click but now there is no discernible way to download them. I do notice the FaithlifeTV logo in the bottom right - I don't remember that being there when I was able to download previously. Downloading them wasn't a great option for me but at least I had that; these videos are useless to me if I can't download them as I can't stream them either.
I assume this isn't available in the mobile app...is it? And is that the actual title "Desilva's Teaching Material I"? I'll probably have to start up my laptop and check 'cause it shows I own it.

After a few days of trying I found this.
1. The material is quite good.
2. I don't care about downloading videos, personally, though it might solve the video--watching problem
3. Browsing videos or slides is far too slow to be useful. Slides and videos need to be separated somehow, topics organized and we need to be able to see more than a few media options at a time...and they need to load with reasonable speed. For me they don't.
4. Video's don't perform well enough over the internet to be useful.
I have reasonable internet service. I am sure the DeSilva Teaching Materials resources will improve soon. I hope. The potential is there!
Perhaps others have a different experience?

I agree with the material being good but like you mentioned earlier the videos didn't perform well over the internet. I can't say I've had that issue but this is why I would ask that they make them downloadable. My church has terrible wifi so I could never use these in a class unless they add them into logos or i try to go into the code and pull them out on my own. Either way I don't see why adding them as a download couldn't be done. The look at th book videos download as well as courses so why not this?
