I wonder if Logos could consider offering the Concise Dictionary of Classical Hebrew?  This title has been recently available made for a competitive program but I have no interest in building another library.  Sad

I have the hardcopy of the CDCH and there are two things that I really like about it.

1. statistics: the number of occurrences of the word in the Hebrew OT, Ben Sira, the Dead Sea scrolls and inscriptions.

2. "new words": 1200 words found in the Hebrew corpus other than the Hebrew OT, and 2100 words or new meaning of words proposed by scholars

Concise as it is, it is a very handy index for subsequent looking up of the unabridged Dictionary of Classical Hebrew if one has access to it (of course I would mind if Logos would offer the unabridged Dictionary of Classical Hebrew too Wink).

Here is an example of how we've been using it as an index to aid exegesis.  In our recent study of Proverbs we were wondering about the meaning of "way of the path" in Pr 12:28, and so we looked up the entry in the CDCH, and found a "new meaning" proposed by scholars for the word נתיב, which brought us to look up the entry in the unabridged dictionary.  This new proposed meaning ("ruins" as opposed to "path") would not only fit in the Proverbs verse nicely but also balance the two colons and maintain an antithetical parallelism between them, so it has been able to offer some new light in our study.

I would also like to see the Concise DCH in Logos ASAP, and the full set as soon as Volume 8 is published!

I posted a thread asking for a broad array of Hebrew dictionaries some time back, specifically mentioning Ben Yehuda's dictionary, and any others that may be available to Logos. This one sounds promising. Let me also suggest that Logos try to track down any available Hebrew dictionaries that may have entered the public domain...and if more than one is available, combining them into one package. When it comes to dictionaries, from my perspective, I want to have as many different resources as possible. You never know which one will have the info you are needing.  I am looking for resources that have niqqudohtth and non-Biblical words.

Regarding this resource, I would prefer the unabridged as soon as it becomes available. Yes

David Paul:
niqqudohtth

sg. נְקֻדָּה n(e)quddah pl. נְקֻדּוֹת n(e)quddoth

OR

sg. נִקּוּד niqqudh (No doubling of final consonants) pl.  נִקוּדִים  niqqudhim

Ben Yehuda would be a perfect resource for me.

Yes. The place I checked had such a small font, I could barely see the pointings. Which is precisely why I want to have some quality Hebrew dictionaries in Logos.

I'd like the Concise Dictionary too if David Clines can be persuaded to licence it to Logos. I'd love the full version but fear I would never afford it in hardback (over $1500 ) or electronically. Seems quite a lot of people in this thread aren't aware of quite how expensive the full version is - it is after all a life time's work for D. Clines and set to replace BDB.

The work was licensed exclusively to another company and we need to wait until that term expires before we can acquire it for Logos Bible Software.
