Is there any reason to call sales if you have a straightforward order?

I wouldn't think so but wanted to make sure. There's a lot that I think I know that I don't know!

I've had Logos since 2008 with Logos 3 Gold, then L4 and L5 Platinum, if I recall correctly, then L6 Reform Diamond.

I plan to order Logos Now and L7 Gold, simply because that library has three sets that make it attractive to me. No higher standard or denominational library does, and I'm quite content with what I already have.

Would you call sales tomorrow anyway, or simply order online? What may I be overlooking?

Thank you.

You may want to order LN first and then the gold package on another order to make sure you get the extra % off the base package because you are a now subscriber.  I am not sure how it is set up in the system.

There's nothing to be gained by calling sales unless you want to do something complicated like try and add to an existing payment plan. But as was said above, make sure you have become a Logos Now member before buying L7 Gold (do two transactions). It will be cheaper that way.

Thanks, Mark.

As I said above, there are things I think I know that I do not know, and this is evidently one of them.

As a non-Now member, my dynamic price for Standard Gold library is $413.79.

Without Now in the cart, the Library is discounted to $373.41 (reflecting the L7 introductory discount of 10%).

With Now in the cart, the Library is discounted to $316.55 (reflecting the L7 Combo Discount of 10% and the Intro. Promo + Now Discount of 15%).

Are you and Jeffrey indicating that first joining Now will reduce the library below $316.55?

Thanks.

No, I'm not saying that. I just didn't realise the cart gave you the deduction in one purchase. That's great, and I've not seen it noted anywhere. (I was already a Logos Now member, so couldn't experience it myself.) Thanks for letting us know that two transactions aren't necessary in this case.

I do remember seeing a FL employee include this in a forum post, but I don't remember who or what thread.

I've been told by some that you can get secret or extra deals when you speak with someone but the few times I've called in I never got anything like that so I would say just order unless you want to do something funky like merge payment plans.

Thanks, Mark. That's good to know that two transactions aren't necessary. For all the flack propelled at Logos during this release, it seems tighter than previous releases.

And thanks for your very helpful involvement on the forums.

After perusing thread after thread, trying to soak up all I can about Logos Now and offers and libraries and purchasing strategies, etc., I think you're right. We're always looking for the best price, but it seems that what shows up online is as good as it gets for straightforward purchases.

Pretty much.

There's one time that I can think of to call in to save money when you want to make a straightforward purchase, and that's for people who bought Logos/Verbum 6 shortly before the release of 7 who want to make a straightforward purchase, because it seems that those people can often get an extra discount of some kind.

In my experienc, Sales will almost never give any additional discount on something that is already on sale. I therefore only contact them if purchasing something at full price - then a small discount is possible.

Bill, don't forget to get one of these as a free book with your purchase. Here is the link that lists the different ones. But I was told by customer service that you could get only one book, not all of them.

http://community.logos.com/forums/p/129593/844447.aspx#844447

Also, I did my order online and then found out about the free books. I couldn't get the free book in my cart, since I had previously purchased Logos 7, so I had to email customer service. They worked it out for me, but I was told "In the future, we recommend that you contact our Sales Department when making purchases to ensure that you are not missing out on any specials like the one in the forums as they are our product experts and are well versed on all of the specials that are being offered on items that we sell."

I must say I was a bit frustrated by that news, as I keep hearing how "expensive" customer service is and yet here we are encouraged to call! Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Just make the sales and specials obvious, so that you don't have to look in 15,000 places and then still have to end up contacting customer service when you have "discovered" the freebie in the forum too late.

Just my thoughts! Stick out tongue

Thanks for your kindness in sharing that, Charlene.

I already had the Lexham Bible Guide: Colossians in my cart and saw that I needed either the Logos Now / Library or Full Feature Set / Library combo in the cart in order for the free code to work. I just didn't add that to the thread in order to keep it on one issue.

However, you posted the additional info at the perfect time, so thanks for doing so. Hopefully, that will help someone else.

Occasionally, Sales has not been aware of all of the specials--even the ones available on the website, but I suspect that Faithlife may be paying closer attention to that lately, after a bunch of complaining on the forums awhile back. (Thanks for free extra commentary set, Faithlife!)

In aggregate, sales people manage to sell more than enough product that people wouldn't otherwise buy that it's still financially worth having them. But I always agree with making it easier for customers to understand and take advantage of FL's specials.

Agree that if possible, order online; clearly 'live' sales assets are badly strained until after the L7 rush is over. I've tried to call/ chat/ email due to FFS/ LN question since launch, but no contact. Tried calling, holding several times to a max of 15-20 min. Tried the chat app - same results. Tried email (as overflow option from chat app); no response after many days. Result: no purchase, so far.

This is not really a complaint, but recognition that it is a special time.

One last thought - perhaps the email option should work better than it has. The ol'  Inbox is gold for FL at a time like this. Cool

Grace and peace. <><

I completed the transaction online. I didn't want to tie up Sales on a phone call if it made no difference to the price (as Robert indicates), and I don't care to talk on the phone anyway for something like this if I can avoid it.

This has definitely been an interesting release in regard to pricing.

I had already purchased the L7 Full Feature set, L7 Standard Silver library, and L7 Pentecostal/Charismatic Bronze library, when based on various forum conversations I started wondering if purchasing Logos Now first to gain extra savings on the other items would have saved me enough to cover a good percentage of the $90 Logos Now purchase.  So as I noted in another thread, I contacted Sales, but was told doing the LN purchase first would not have saved more than a couple of dollars at best--not nearly enough to make a dent in the extra $90 paid up front for LN.  So, I let it go for a while.  But this morning, I decided to compare what would happen if I were to upgrade my L7 Standard Silver to L7 Standard Gold with Logos Now vs. without it.  Here are the L7 Gold upgrade costs as given in my cart without a Logos Now membership, followed by the cost of the same library with a Logos Now membership also being in the cart.

  • $239.25 without the Logos Now membership in the cart
  • $203.36 with the Logos Now membership in the cart

That's a savings of $35.89 (15%), and that's just for the upgrade from Silver to Gold.  Since my original library purchases without a Logos Now membership came to $441.95, I figured making the purchases with a Logos Now membership should save me $66.29 on the libraries--a savings which could then be applied to the $90 LN membership, resulting in a net out-of-pocket increase of less than $24 for the Logos Now membership.  Or so I thought

When I called Sales again and shared this information, I was told I wouldn't really save that amount if I returned my purchases and made them again with a Logos Now membership--that in actuality, I would only see a net savings increase of 5% (apx. $25), not the $66 I was anticipating.  When I asked how/why that could be the case if the library prices in the cart were being discounted by 15% with a Logos Now membership in the cart, I was told "Yes--it's confusing!".  The sales rep then attempted an explanation I couldn't follow--something about me seeing back-end savings in the current scenario I had presented to him that would be offset by higher up-front pricing if I were to return the purchases and then re-purchase them after becoming a Logos Now member.

Oy Vey!  What's a simpleton like me to make of it all.  Tongue Tied

NOTE: I in no way mean to disparage the sales rep who spoke with me on the phone--he was very polite and did his best.  I'm just glad I'm not tasked with the responsibility of explaining it to customers.

I'm also fighting the confusion. But what the sales rep said doesn't seem quite right, but what do I know? (Please don't answer that! Smile )

And it's not just the pricing rules that make it tough. There's so much complexity in deciding what to buy! There are 57 base packages, and each of these can be purchased (theoretically) with or without LN, and with or without feature sets, and each of the LN choices affects not just the price, but the discount applied to get that price. And then, you go to the web site, and after choosing the full feature set plus a base package, and then deciding to add LN, which automatically removes the feature set from your shopping cart, so the shopping cart adjusts the price. AND, doing that last thing will only give you access to the FS as long as you have LN....

And in my considerations, I might choose to buy the feature set later -- maybe in L8, but I don't know when that'll be, soooooo...
