Hi all:

I am usinf Logos 7 and searching Acts-Titus in the ESV for "oversee".

I checked "match all forms".

I expected this search query to find all 5 occurrences of "overseer" but it did not.

What did I do wrong?

Chuck

The stemming algorithm does not consider overseer a form of oversee. The different forms of oversee would also be verbs, not nouns.  (Edit:  I see that the help file indicates otherwise for the word "Love" (love, lover, etc).  So maybe it should also work for oversee, but the algorithm doesn't always recognize some stems).

Use oversee* (with the asterisk wildcard) to find both types of words.

My guess is that "match all word forms" does not mean to match between verbs and nouns. They are too different. If you however type "overseer" it will find the plural "overseers" as well as the singular form.

Edit: I just thought of the *, but Todd was quicker.
