Create Cross-References
I sometimes find that I would like to create my own cross-references, without tying them to a note file. For example, in the ESV Titus 1:15 alludes to Psalm 18:26, but does not directly reference it.
Is there a way to create cross-references so that they show up when I hover the curser over the cross-reference letter in the text?

No. But you could create a Highlight style that mimics a cross-reference letter and use its Labeling feature for the cross-reference.

I often desire to create my own cross references without having to use the cumbersome note method.
Dave, would you elaborate on how your proposed method would work.
Thanks

It uses highlights, which by default use the cumbersome note method. [:(]
The older suggestions that came up when something like this was requested was to reference folks to one of the big cross-reference resources. I haven't seen anything that would change that, though there are some people (like Dave) creative enough that it wouldn't surprise me if the answer has improved.

Except you don't have to use the cumbersome note!
- Create a highlight e.g. Cross Reference
- Use Text Before in Insert Text
- Tick Prompt to enter attributes for the label
- Choose Bible Reference for the Value Type.
You can add multiple Reference's when using your CR highlight, but the reference is "read only" - alas!

Resurrecting an old thread. I tried the custom highlight method mentioned above, and, while the presentation is nice -- it's very tiny on my screen, and the read-only attribute of the labels sorta negates the purpose. It would be nice to be able to create personal cross references like the ones embedded into the Bible text. When you click on those, the references are hyperlinked so that you can instantaneously view the cross-reference verse(s) without having to switch over to a note. Plus, when you click on the cross-reference tag, the popup font size is adjusted to the resource font settings. So IMO it would be nice to have cross references appear in a pop-up with hyperlinks rather than a separate note. I grant this isn't likely to happen -- ha. Just thought I would mention it.
