When I add a book to the a collection using the plus feature and have the 'show in parallel resources" box checked, isn't that book to show up by clicking the parallel resource box in the open tab of the book?

If I do a basic search within the collection the books show up but not in parallel resources. Am I missing a step here? And by the way thanks to you Keep Smiling for Jesus for this resource. "My Discourse Study Questions".

Hi Claude,

Unless that particular topic "Principle" has an entry that is tagged in your parallel resource it will not appear among your Parallel Resource Set.

LDGNT Glossary is not indexed to headwords like your My Discourse Study Questions (presumably) is. If you open the information view on the LDGNT Glossary (the "i" button in the upper right of the panel), you will see that it's indexed to the Lexham Discourse Greek New Testament datatype. If you want parallel resources to find matches, you would need your other resource to be indexed to that same datatype.

Thanks guys so you are saying that even though both resources are sharing the same index, "Lexham Discourse Greek New Testament" they may not be sharing the same index?

Oops forgot again both parallel resource buttons report no parallel resources?

Andrew,

Are you able to index datatypes in PBs and if so how is it done?

So if I run across an entry that is tagged in each resource, then the button will populate otherwise I get "no parallel resources"? So it is but just to use a collection search on terms I want to investigate?

Consider that the Logos resource also reported no parallel resources, but that may be because of the tagging issue? Both resources are indexed to the same index but maybe not the same dataset? or datatypes?

It is indexed to the same datatype. Again thanks for the assist guys. I would really like to use that resource drop down menu as that would make research must faster.

The search you are looking for would be something like: {Milestone <LDGNT = Principle>}

This looks for all milestones with the given datatype reference.

Does that search give a result in My Discourse Study Questions?

Yes. Check the Milestones information in the Personal Books Syntax section of your help file.

Yes it does and the resource is indexed to the LDGNT.

the search "principle" in the grammar collection I created returned headword search for both resources in addition to the other places found within the resources.

The milestone search returned only LDGNT result

This is not actually a headword search that you are doing. This is just a simple search for the use of the word Principle. These results have no bearing on whether or not resources are able to link up in any way.

There is not currently any mechanism for searching for headwords.

Claude Brown Jr:

The milestone search returned only LDGNT result

Then the My Discourse Study Questions resource is missing the appropriate milestone markers.

Redid the milestone search within my collection and both came back.

I did some digging and figured out what is happening here.

Some datatypes (like Bibles) support reference ranges (like John 1-2). Some datatypes (like LDGNT) do not support reference ranges, so a reference can only be a single item.

Only datatypes that support reference ranges will show up in the parallel resource list. This is because when ranges are supported, the application is able to quickly determine which resources will match the current resource. For datatypes that do not support ranges, it takes much longer to determine this information, and the poor performance was not considered to be acceptable.

I'll create a case to revisit this issue and see if there is some way to implement support for this.

Some possible workarounds are:

* Use multi-resource view or panel linking to link both resources together.

* Right clicking on any of the text with that milestone. Then select the headword reference on the right side of the menu. Then select Power Lookup on the left side of the menu. This will show you a preview of all the places the have a milestone for this reference.
