Here's the scenario:
I own two desktop computers. They both are
located at the same desk. One is about four years old. It's slow but
adequate. I do my Logos work on this computer. Let's call this one
Computer A. The other computer is probably eight years old. It's really
slow, but I'm using it as a backup computer -- just in case something
happens to the faster one. Lets call this older computer Computer B.
So
I've installed Logos 4 on both computers. Computer A has 442 resources.
Computer B has 441 resources. So it would seem that Computer B is
missing a resource. But wait, there's more! Computer A has 21
dictionaries while computer B has 22 dictionaries. Now the situation is
getting more complicated, and the data almost seems contradictory.
So
after much detective work this is what I found. Computer A seems to be
missing a dictionary, but it's actually in the Library. It's just been
classified as a monograph instead of a dictionary. So that solves one
mystery.
Computer A also has another monograph that computer B
does not have. It's called, "Meltho Fonts User Guide". So I poked around
in the resource folder of Computer A and copied MELTHOFONTS.lbxlls from
the resource folder of Computer A to the resource folder of computer B.
After
this I told both copies of Logos 4 to "rebuild index". I had high hopes
that this action would cause Computer B to find the Meltho Fonts
resource and add it to the library. I also hoped that Computer A would
somehow pick up the most up-to-date metadata while rebuilding the index.
In other words, I was hoping that "The Zondervan Dictionary of Bible
Themes" would become a dictionary instead of a monograph, and that the
indexer program would obtain that updated information from the Logos web
site.
Alas, neither of my hopes was realized. The state of both
libraries is unchanged.
The next step that I am considering is
copying the entire contents of Computer B's resource folder to Computer
A's resource folder, and then rebuilding Computer A's index. I would
hope that this would correct the metadata problem. However this does
nothing for the missing Meltho Fonts User Guide on Computer B. And I run
the risk that this action will totally destroy the the Logos 4
installation on Computer A.
So what do you suggest? I'm looking for two
answers.
1) How do I fix the metadata problem on Computer A?
2)
How do I get Computer B to pick up the Meltho Fonts User Guide?
Thanks
for your help.
