Request: Add keyboard shortcut Ctrl+S for Open Search in a floating window

Alt+L opens Library in a tab
Ctrl+L opens Library in a floating window
Alt + S opens Search in a tab

By analogy, Ctrl+S should open Search in a floating window

I find myself frequently wanting to open Search without wanting it to disturb my existing layout. I open it in a floating window which I can then easily Alt+Tab back and forth to, as I do often with my Library. However it would be really nice if there were a keyboard shortcut for doing that. Ctrl+S is currentlly unused, and I don't envision it ever being needed for Save since Logos saves everything automatically. Please, pretty please, make it a shortcut for opening Search in a floating window.

I disagree. CTRL+S is reserved for SAVE, (Should save current snapshot of the layout)

CTRL+F works for Find.

now CTRL+ALT+S for a search would be ok.

OK, good point. I'd be fine with Ctrl+Alt+S. I just don't want to have to right click on the Find icon and select "Open in a floating window" each time I want to do this rather common action.

Fair enough. I don't do floating searches myself; but I definitely see your point.

Are you wanting to search the work open in the floating window? If so <ctrl-F> will do that.

Nope, I know about Ctrl+F, but I want to open the Search panel (to be able to do Basic and Bible searches and the like) but have it open all the time and not in the way of my rather busy exegesis layout. If I opened it in a tab within my exegesis layout, it would be quite small. So I want it in a floating window that I can maximize and Alt+Tab back and forth to when needed.

I just checked. You must open the search panel in the main window, but YOU CAN THEN FLOAT IT.

I know. I just wanted a keyboard shortcut for this, since you can do all the other major Menu things (Library, Home) with shortcuts, and I use it frequently, and I'm a keyboard jockey.

Anyway, I'd never open it first and THEN float it. It's faster to right click on the Search icon and choose "Open in a floating window" -- but still not fast enough for me. I want a keystroke. OK? So leave me alone! [:)]

I'm a keyboard junkie myself so I can relate to that, but I also don't want to have to remember 6,349 different shortcuts.

I'm glad you knew I was joking. I wondered about how that might come across afterwards, even with the smiley, because it could have been taken as me being really nasty and surly. But I wasn't.
