How do I find all the verbs in a given pericope?

I am preparing for a sermon series in the book of 1 Samuel. I would like to take a given pericope such as 1 Sam 1-20 and find all of the verbs in that pericope. So far I have not had much success in deciphering how to do such a search. Any help would be appreciated.

Set up a visual filter. See this wiki page for info -http://wiki.logos.com/Visual_Filter. Especially the part about morphological filters about halfway down the page.

Click the search icon. Choose Morph search. Click "All Passages" and input the pericope you desire. Select the version you want to search (BHS or a Reverse Interlinear) and then in the search box type "@" (no quotes) this will bring up the morph picker, click on Verb and then hit enter.

Once again I really appreciate the help. Is there a way to group the finding by lemma? So that I can have every instance of a verb in a pericope gathered together?

Click on Analysis in the search window, and drag the Lemma column to the area shown:

This will group the results by that column:

And to add to my previous reply. You can click on the Lemma button that appears to change the sort to "Sort by Frequency"--just click it until the triangle that indicates sort order disappears:

And if you want to collapse the results, you can right click on one of the collapsible lines to "Collapse all".

Todd, of course, gave you the best option to sort like this. However, if you are going to use analysis it is usually best to use the BHS and not one of the Reverse Interlinears. The Analysis view works by gathering all data associated with your search term. For the RIs this means that extra information can clutter up the Analysis view.

[:$] Yeah, I intended to switch it to BHS before I did the screen shots, and I didn't realize I had left it on ESV until I'd finished.

EDIT TO ADD: Although, even if you're using a Rev.Int., you can turn off the extraneous columns by right-clicking on them and deselecting the one you don't want.

True, but there will be results for the lemma waw (and possibly others) when you do this search in a reverse interlinear. This is because the compounding of a verb with another word gets dragged into Analysis when you use it on a Reverse Interlinear Bible.

Will someone help show me how I could go a bit deeper here and say find the subj and the finite verb in a NT passage using Open Text.org. I have read all the posts i can find and still not understanding how to best do this basic search. Thanks in advance to those who help teach us how to better use this great program.
