1. JPS commentary. The Penteteuch series, especially.

2. 'Performance' criticism. I had to look that one up; narritives, not auto racing. Essentially, orality in ancient times.

3. ICC Ephesians. Good for comparing unusual passages in Eph.

4. Holman Maps. If you don't already. Another forumite un-blinded me to this map/charts volume.

Plus some nice ones for those that are Logos-new, want usability, and don't intend to spend a lot.

I would have had to look that one up too but didn't need to because you provided the answer. Smile It looks interesting.

I am a bit tempted by the BST Old Testament series which I do not have. The dynamic price for the OT/NT collection is a good bit less than the price for the OT alone.

Does anyone have these and find them helpful? As I said, I have the NT volumes and have found many of them to be very useful.

The price for the Tyndale series is just about irresistible for anyone who doesn't have it.

This set is in Anglican Portfolio so depending on your interests, dynamic pricing for you for that library and your budget this is another option to possibly get it at a even cheaper dynamic price.

Tyndale in many library packages so these should be looked at also if someone is considering this set before making final purchasing decision.

I have the complete OT set. Derek Kidner, Alec Motyer, Christopher Wright and Raymond Brown author several of the volumes. Joyce Baldwin has one. The volumes on Amos, Hosea and Ecclesiastes are excellent, IMHO. Like you, I find the NT volumes very useful, especially those by Stott, Brown and Clowney.

I was wondering if it was worth getting the OT set too. Is this the first time the set went on sale? Or does it always go on sale?

Keith, someone else may have a better recollection than I do, but I don't recall seeing it on sale before, which is why I'm thinking about it now.

Thanks for your reply, I am with you, that is why I am thinking of getting it too. Any word on when this sale ends? Sorry for all the questions.

I want this, I think:

https://www.logos.com/product/5322/dictionary-for-theological-interpretation-of-the-bible

How important is this and how good of a deal is it?  Does it ever come on sale at a better price?

There was a thread discussing this resource but I can't find it. I'm curious too, since I got the "wishlist alert" 🚨 yesterday. At 29% off, it seems like a great deal 👌

I'm in the same boat. It's referenced a few times in Doug Moo's New Testament Theology Mobile-Ed course.

It's on sale pretty frequently (relative term). And 30% is a yawn. That said, Logos has been less aggressive in recent times, so 30% might be really good.

The volume is largely 1950s thinking ... it's not going to do much for later hot-buttons. For example, marriage is subsumed under M/F sexuality, which is in turn busy with equality, etc and short discussion Not a negative comment ... just noting about where it sits. Mainly useful for earlier decades.

EDIT:

Oops ... the 'frequently' is https://www.logos.com/product/3072/the-dictionary-of-historical-theology   Which I view as the more useful.  The present  volume, as noted, is a little thin per article. But certainly no slouch.

Added:

This got me curious. https://www.logos.com/product/27278/new-dictionary-of-theology is very similar to the one currently on sale (eg thinness of articles, point in time, etc). I notice also, that the current sale volume was updated last, in 2009. So, I'd assume it's not participating in some of the dataset ventures.  The historical one, above was updated last year.

I bought this book yesterday but was disappointed that entries in this dictionary don't seem to show up in my Factbook and Topic queries.  I just chose an entry at random (i.e. slavery) and ran the two queries.  Is there a reason why entries from this resource wouldn't be integrated into the Factbook and Topic tools?  Without the integration the value of the resource is somewhat diminished in my opinion.

I have had it for awhile and was disappointed from the start. The title promises way more than it delivers. It is thin, and not all that theological.

I question the theological interpretation of the Bible concept since encountering this dictionary. I thought all interpretation of the Bible was ultimately theological, and this dictionary did nothing to persuade me that there was something to gain by this emphasis. That's my opinion, and others may differ, but if it were me, I'd save my money.
