I built a concordance for the ESV and sorted by headings. Now how do I position to a word? I searched the archives. I must be overlooking something obvious.

Anyone out there? I'm trying to show people from my Bible Study Methods class how this feature replaces Strong's in print. Potential customers.

Hi Zak,

I sympathize with you that no one has responded to your post. I may be able to help you, but I need to understand what you mean by "position to a word." If you mean how you find a specific word, you don't need the concordance tool for this. You simply open your bible and do an Inline Search for the term and all instances of your term will be reported.

Hi Zak.

1. The Help button (listed under Tools, in the manual) has a lengthy discussion. It might be helpful for you, but I couldn't figure out what they meant by word vs heading.  I'm guessing Mark or Dave know (forum regulars).

2. As best I can see, you can only position/sort by heading or count.

3. The 'Word' in blue appears to be a rollup button. I presume for mixed queries?

4. Logos guys don't visit so much, so not selling Logos isn't a factor. Most of the time.

5. Glad you're helping others!

Ok so I'm using it wrong if I try to use it like a printed concordance. I should be using inline search instead. So what is the actual concordance feature used for? I finally figured out how to get into "help" but it didn't enlighten me as to what you would actually use the concordance for, although a couple of things it alludes to would seem to require some sort of "position list to word" field. It just seems to be a strange thing to leave out if you're calling it a concordance and people are going to want to use it like a printed one.

The Concordance Tool is a recently added feature of the software see this thread https://community.logos.com/forums/p/105207/727617.aspx

The software Search functionality and features such as Bible Word Study replace the functions of concordances such as Strong's and Englishman's.
