Going to be teaching on Daniel 5 Sunday and am stuck on how to explain these things to the class. Is there a good book that has ideas for helping with explaining. It doesn't even have to cost money or be found on logos
This one has tips for teaching kids: https://www.logos.com/product/46950/the-bible-story-handbook-a-resource-for-teaching-175-stories-from-the-bible
It might help.

I remember hearing this story at a young age.
First, you need to give them context. If they are already familiar with the story of Daniel in the lion's den, then they may have an idea of the Jews living in Babylon (pagan) in captivity.
Second, you introduce Daniel as a prophet of God who remains loyal to God even though he is in a remote land living in captivity to the pagan king.
Talk about the pagan feast devoid of honor to God.
Introduce the "moving finger" writing. Even as a kid, I was fascinated with:
“The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor WitShall lure it back to cancel half a Line,Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.”
