Hi

One or two of my note files have been corrupted. Does anyone have a web address for notes that used

to be produced for Logos 3 - notes like Introduction to James/Matthew by B.W Johnston among others.

Thanks for any help you can offer. Regards, Gerald

Gerald, I wasn't sure what you meant by using the terminology "notes" because in Logos that means stuff you write yourself. At first I understood you to mean that some of your own notes files had gotten corrupted somehow in the move from Logos 3 to Logos 4.

But then you mentioned a title of a book, so I assume you mean a resource file rather than a notes file.

You referred to Introduction to James/Matthew by B.W Johnston, which I have been unable to find anywhere (Amazon, Google). Are you sure that's the title/author? I looked for simply "Introduction to James" by anyone named Johnston or Johnson, and no luck. Is this a book you definitely had in Logos 3? Do you still have Logos 3 on your computer and can you still access this book OK there with no corruption?

And what do you mean by "corrupted"? Could you explain a bit more? Are you completely unable to open the resource, or is it coming up garbled, or ... ??

Logos 4 works by keeping your resource files automatically in sync with the most recent version of them on the Logos servers. So you shouldn't need a web address to download them from. As long as your licenses are in sync from all the books you had in Logos 3, if you type "update resources" in the command bar in Logos 4, you should get the newest versions of those resources.

Is there something else I'm misunderstanding?

Have you tried calling Customer Service? This sounds like it might be a problem for them to work out. Anecdotal evidence from several people says the wait times are now back down to practically nil, so it might be worth a shot, especially since nobody jumped right in with a brilliant answer for you here after three days of your waiting. You might simply need to explain more about what is going on for you to someone who can wait patiently on the phone and ask you the right questions. This could take too long if we do it over the forum.

If you are talking about PBBs for L3, Thomas Black's site http://www.stilltruth.com/page/libronix_pbb_files has a lot of the PBB and other Libronix-related files.

Ah yes, you must be talking about The People's New Testament by B. W. Johnson. It has chapters/volumes for James and Matthew and the other NT books. It was mentioned on the StillTruth website but there was no link to download the file, so I'm not sure it was ever available as a PBB for Logos 3. But it is available in Logos native format (http://www.logos.com/ebooks/details/bwjpnt), so I'm assuming that's what you're talking about.

So please confirm: Are you able to open it in L3 but not in L4? And again, what are the symptoms of not being able to open it in L4?

UPDATE: If your actual Logos 3 file got corrupted somehow, you can redownload it by going to the product description page (http://www.logos.com/ebooks/details/bwjpnt) and clicking on the link under "Download Book File": it looks like this -- bwjpnt.lbxlls (3.78Mb)

Hi Folks

Thanks for the replies but perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my initial post. When I refer to notes I'm referring to note files. Yes you can compose them yourself which I've done at times. But at the same time there were some web sites that offered notes composed by those interested in Logos 3. Over the years I've downloaded many note files and that's why I was asking if anyone was familiar with such site and if they knew they still existed. The one I'm most interested in getting is of course the one mentioned - Johnston on James which I would really like. Kind regards, Gerald

I know what you are looking for. I preserved and reposted most of the files from the newsgroups onto the forums. I'm running a search now but the particular files you are requested don't sound familiar to me.

Hi MJ

Nice to hear from you again. Thanks for any help you can offer. Will be much appreciated.

Could you also point me in the direction where your files are to be found in the forums?

No possibility of coming up withj more PBB files - the ones you produced are tremendous.

Thanks for all you work.

Regards

Gerald

There is a forum section named "Files". Most of what was on the newsgroups is there with headings indicating it is a reposting. I did not try to repost things that were available on stilltruth. I am anxiously waiting for the new PBB function - thinking that I can do a better job of tagging topics. But for the moment, I am working on two things (a) a document describing how to integrate your prayer life into Logos and (b) a heap of lectionaries - current and historical.

Unfortunately, I didn't preserve these files - they must precede my involvement.
