Not see it in Logos or on the Ellen White website.

Dear Lynden,

It is referenced in two places in the SDABC and in Christ Triumphant, the devotional for this year. So Logos does not contain all EGW sources? Where else could I find the letter in its entirety?

Also, in general, if the reference in a source is an EGW letter, are there none of those in Logos?

Thanks,

Mike

No. The White Estate and Logos would have to collaborate on this. I have not been able to find it on her website either. www.ellenwhite.org  Many of her letters are compiled in Manuscript releases.

Here is another link to "EGW Writings" EllenWhite.org : https://egwwritings.org/?ref=en_Lt16-1897&para=5323.1

I find myself using this site more and more as time goes on. Logos has some missing content in the newly released letters and manuscripts. Also each paragraph has an HTML address so you can embed references in MS Word files. I wish Logos would clean up the books that they published and add new material. A wish, but I would pay more for it if they would do it. I think they really aren't interested in the SDA community. That is why I have been making my own personal books and uploading them to our SDA Faithlife page.

Is it planned to offer the missing EGW publications for logos?

Greetings Fred
I was given to understand that the commentary was produced in the days when it could be done by an independent publishers with permission and would be sold as being able to link in with Logos. Logos changed this policy when they got blamed for errors made by the independent publisher. My version of the commentary is advertised on the cover as being sold by Crossview, a division of the REview and Herald.

Logos have always tried to ensure that a book would sell sufficient copies to cover their initial costs. I surmise that is one reason why they are still trading and are in the black still.
Several years ago they invested in several religious grouping hoping that each one would soon sell enough basic works to justify producing more. I suspect that in the SDA market this has not worked out so they are wary of producing more SDA works that history has taught them that will not sell. They have certainly put up with quite a bit of flack by selling SDA stuff.

I have also taken the pragmatic path and have bought a significant number of in print SDA works that I have turned into personal works (as well as out of print works which, like you, I have uploaded).

Let us be grateful that Logos continues to sell the works that they do sell!!

I say a big amen to the fact that they are still willing to sell SDA materials. It's not Faithlife's fault that the SDA interest didn't stay where we wish it would have!

One of the resources listed as 'uploaded' is Daniel and the Revelation by Uriah Smith.  Faithlife offers that resource for $6.99.  Faithlife has found that most of the  PBBs that are uploaded are in direct competition with what they plan to sell - someday.  [Converted PDFs found on the net] [[There are others listed that are for sale by Faithlife]]

Faithlife is interested in the SDA community but there is no money for them in that community nor in the Orthodox community.

Their business model requires that every resource pay for itself before they work on it. So, as members of other communities are not very interested in buying SDA or Orthodox resources, Faithlife will never get to the level of support that most SDA or Orthodox community members require to buy the lowest level base package of Logos. Faithlife will never get many SDA or Orthodox customers except for those of us that want an extremely powerful Bible research tool.  Too bad that 99.999% of our resources conflict with our doctrine.  [[Also note that there is no support for the community of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and probably many others that I do not know of that are not main line christian.]]

I checked our group and could not track it down.

I strongly feel that we should remove any books as Logos produce them but we can really only police our own groups. However, we cannot refrain producing public domain books on the off chance that Logos will produce them.

The main reason that I went with Logos originally was that I could produce my own books expecting that they would produce very few SDA books.

No support for JWs.

To be fair, most of our doctrines are covered by one or more main stream denomination. Since coming on Logos, thanks to the variety of books and theological views, I know what I believe far better than I used to.
