Just for the fun of it, I created brackets and tracked how I thought the commentary sets would progress. (I'm personally not interested in the Mobile Ed, so it isn't included here.)

Probably way off, but here is what I think will happen. In the next post I will give what I wish would happen.

Here is what I wish would happen, based first on my own current resources and then secondly on my personal tastes.

NB: I created these just after I voted when only about 50 votes had been cast. Hence some of my predictions may be significantly astray.

Some seem to be right, some seem to be significantly off.

But I think you've correctly picked the one with the best chance of winning it all.

I think NICOT/NT is the champion, Hermeneia runner-up, Berit Olam will lose to Expositors. If interested in my full bracket post an empty bracket.

Meanwhile, Jesus kept on growing wiser and more mature, and in favor with God and his fellow man.

Yes, I'm pleased to see some of my predictions were wrong. Such as JPS Tanakh and Berit Olam losing out to their competitors.

My prediction is that NICNT/OT will take the top commentary spot. When it comes to Mobile Ed courses my feeling is that Craig Evans' collection on the Synoptic Gospels may win because of the quality of the material, Evan's easy and engaging teaching style, the topics' breadth of appeal and the significant savings of a winning discount. At least, those would be my predictions in years prior to this one.

What I think makes this year's MM victor(s) less predictable is the reduction in the winning discount to (only!) 60%. Anchor, NICNT/OT and Evans' Synoptics collection are widely considered to represent excellent quality but, to some customers who would like to purchase them, even a 60% discount may not be enough to afford or justify the expense. Yes, payment plans are available, but I wonder how many Logosians will opt to vote for other products whose actual price, should it win, will be far easier to pay. In previous years I have purchased a number of winning products even if I wasn't desperate to have them, because 70% off a $20 book is a tempting, affordable offer. But 60% off Anchor's $2000+ price tag or NICNT/OT's $1800+ price tag is still a lot of money to a lot of people. It will be interesting to attempt to analyse the psychology of voting in this year's MM at the end of the promotion.

Given the paragraph immediately above, I wouldn't be surprised if the Expositor's Bible Commentary (Revised Edition) (www.logos.com/product/20185/expositors-bible-commentary-revised-edition) wins the commentaries bracket and David Instone-Brewer's "The Jewish Context of the Life of Jesus" (www.logos.com/product/54576/mobile-ed-nt390-jesus-as-rabbi-the-jewish-context-of-the-life-of-jesus) wins the Mobile Ed bracket. I think those products may be the ones which best represent the sweet-spot of broad appeal and affordability.

What do others think?

I agree that it will be interesting 60% off an enormous collection is still quite a commitment ...

Add into the mix the prospect of dynamic pricing, which will also modify my decisions, and it is looking very interesting! ... as will FL connect own vs. renting of courses ...

I am liking the consistent 3 days between rounds ... almost time for round 2 already :-) ... it keeps up a momentum. Although I am surprised by the relatively few voters (about 1500 ish)

Has dynamic pricing been confirmed on the Zondervan products?

Good point considering Zondervan bundles' track record.

FL reps did mention dynamic pricing without listing any exceptions so it'd probably be so.

Just for the fun of it,

Concur this March Madness has fun opportunity so for grins, projected voting this morning:

Some vote totals are relatively close so future rounds can have different outcomes.

My fingers are crossed for the NICOT/NICNT win Smile

EEC would be great too but it won't win against NIC set.

The ZECNT set already has it enabled though you should wait for the discount though

Well it seems to be trying to claim that it has, but really it doesn't  - my price for four volumes that individually cost $113.97 is $197.39.

I am pleased to report that this has now been fixed and the dynamic pricing is showing the correct price. Thank you to whoever fixed it. Just need to wait now to establish its final position in March Madness so the appropriate discount can be applied.
