With 4.0c Beta 7 now released, and consisting of all bug fixes, I'm curious when we'll start to see some new features from the upcoming features list.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

I, for one, am happy to see the fix only releases. Let's get the bugs out so that when we get new features we do not confuse problems with them and old bugs that have not been fixed.

Don't get me wrong Frank.  I agree in the stability emphasis, it's great.   But I'm antsy for a few things like the sermon addin for example.  :-)

I have a feeling that means they are closing in towards the end of the 4.0c beta cycle and we'll be seeing a release candidate soon. All the bug fixes for Beta 7 were crashing bugs too, which means they've raised the bar on what is worth fixing before releasing this to the public. We might be getting antsy to see new features, but the general non-beta-tester public is getting antsy to see some of the new features we've been enjoying for the last few weeks.

From the beginning of it, we were told 4.0c would be a shorter beta cycle than 4.0b was. I wonder if maybe they've already forked off a team who are working on 4.0d and that some of the bigger new features (PBB, please!) are under development for that. We didn't have to wait too long between the shipping of 4.0b and the beginning of the beta cycle for 4.0c, so I say ship this puppy and let's set our sights on 4.0d.

I would bet (up to 8¢) that we see 4.0c release candidates 1 through n  before we see any new features.

James,

You can add illustrations to a custom guide by creating a collection of your illustration resources then adding that as a collections item in your custom passage guide. It is not as good as the tool in L3 but it is adequate.

I've never seen a cat curious enough to sniff a porcupine - it's got to me a dog (or cow) thing.Smile

well what has 4.0c given us so far..

  1. NIV NT Reverse Interlinear
  2. “full screen” Reverse Interlinear display
  3. Collapsable Notes
  4. Better at format retention when pasting notes
  5. Sorting of Notes
  6. Passage List
  7. Swedish Frontend
  8. Self-tests

Am sure I have missed a few

but IMO its still a huge step forward, plus making it more stable can only be a good thing..

praying d (4.0d) is for Diagramming Big Smile as much as I would like PBB, cant see it being before 4.0e

Also many improvements to highlighting, including being able to assign keys to custom highlighting styles.

I guess if I had PBB, I would be hoping for this, but my number one hoped for missing feature is diagramming. I hope that if PBB is next, that it goes quick and easy Big Smile

May the Lord bless you and keep you.

I am extremely pleased with the focus on making the code more stable rather than adding new features. Maybe when this release goes gold, there will be less reason to talk about L4 being beta software.

Alright so the popular vote appears to be RC than d for Diagramming.  Let's just wait and see what the programming crew is planning.

I do wish I could peek at the whiteboards in the office.  Wink
