Series X vs. V3

I remember that Series X came out sometime in 2001, and then version 3 in March of 2006.

What I can't remember is what was all that different about them. The interface seemed similar, but not radically different.

Do any of you recall the big changes that happened in 2006?

They introduced the Scholars Gold. That was big.

Yes, that was big but it had nothing to do with the software itself. That was just a library package.

I am wondering what was different about the engine. I think that is when reverse interlinears first came out, which BTW has revolutionized study for me - thanks Logos!

I do remember somewhat of a UI face lift but nothing major. I must be forgetting something...

There were apparently 100 new features. See http://www.logos.com/logos3/100

<edit>To add you're right about reverse interlinears: http://www.logos.com/logos3/top20</edit>

besides the interlinears, I don't remember all the functions, but I remember thinking it was "light years" ahead of 2.1.  Just the interface itself was more pleasing.  They added several graphical components (important words, verb river, etc), outside links (like sermon central), and other features to the PG's, etc.  Wasn't searching a little better, too?  Pull down menus were reorganized)

I had JUST gone through training in Detroit (Camp Logos 1) when they released 3.0 within that week or so.

    I like Apples.  Especially Honeycrisp.

That  "100 new features" rings all the changes of importance. But I remember that Libronix 2.1 was what I always thought "Series X" should have been  - -but it took 2+ years to get there!  Hopefully L4 won't take that long ...

L3 started out as v2.2 in alpha testing but it didn't take long before it was renamed! It was an interface and feature revamp of v2.1, bringing some new technology and using more memory & CPU.  Bible Word Study & Exegetical Guide were slower than 2.1 but introduced some of the graphical features we see in L4. Overall search speed was improved whilst Bible Speed Search was fast! Syntax Search was slow.  Active Bible Reference was tremendously helpful ("links to open panels" in L4). The ubiquitous "more >>" was introduced in L3!

    Five years to mature ...

Wow. Going over the "100 New Features" page reminded me how much was added back then.

Thanks for the link to yesteryear!

I just found my Logos version 2.0 box today. It was Level 3 and still has all the contents How small that library is compared to today! I laughed out loud reading the list of included titles.                          I will still hold on to it for a while.....
