I am wondering if it is possible to play a DVD through proclaim.

I am also wondering how large a video proclaim can handle. We wanted to play a downloaded video that was about 20 minutes long through proclaim, but it said it was too large. We had to use another computer to do this. It was a hassle, but it worked out. The person had purchased it so it could not be transferred to our laptop in order to play it due to copyright.

It would seem to me that it should be possible to do both. Thanks for your thoughts.

Jeff

Proclaim doesn't support playing DVDs - see https://community.logos.com/forums/t/140037.aspx for a discussion on this with some suggestions as to how to manage this

I believe the current upload limit is 200MB - though have an idea that this might have been increased recently - but larger videos can be handled by loading them on the presentation machine and using the "Local File Only" option - https://community.logos.com/forums/p/44420/330687.aspx#330687

But from what you say that might not have been possible due to copyright reasons - though not quite sure how that affects this. Can you expand on that a bit more?

Thanks for stepping in to help our users Graham!  The upload limit was increased, so it's now at 600MB.  The only workaround to this would be to perhaps split up the video with something like VLC so it is two separate files.

I'm also unsure about what this copyright is.  Is it some sort of protection on the file?

Thanks for the info. The lady bought a video download so couldn’t download to another computer without paying again. That’s what the copyright was about. I will also let the staff know about the 600mb limit.

Graham

I tried the recommendation from the forum. When I switch from proclaim to the dvd I have to do a windows/p to switch from extended to duplicate screen which is not very seamless. Is there another way to do that?

Justin's suggestion at https://community.logos.com/forums/p/140037/893953.aspx#893953 doesn't require switching to duplicate screen mode, it assumes that you are playing the DVD on the "extended screen" and have set the DVD player up to do that beforehand.

Does that not work for you?

we can’t get dvd to play from extended. Only from duplicate. I’m not sure why.

You should be able too.  Is there a time I can give you a call when you're around the computer and displays to go over it?  Just shoot us a time and number to proclaimsupport@faithlife.com

I've had this problem in the past - some years ago - and it was down to processor power / capability of the video card.

But that doesn't mean that's what's causing the problem you are experiencing!

Many thanks to all you guys for helping me get this worked out. Matt Mattox helped me get set up with two monitors on extended screen. I simply had to move the dvd to monitor two. It works great.

Thanks
