I received this just now, does anyone know why? A promotion perhaps?

Perhaps because I am in on this excellent deal? https://www.logos.com/product/144587/christianity-today

I'm not sure why it downloaded for you but I do know that volumes 50-59 has been offered since 2016 when I received them as part of the Master Journal bundle. Perhaps it is a bit of a teaser?

Hi all,

We decided to include volume 53 of CT in Logos Basic as a teaser, allowing you to explore a year of CT at your leisure. It won't be in Basic forever, but hopefully it will allow you to read, research, and explore 12 issues of one of the most important evangelical Christian magazines available.

Let me know what you all think!

Already put it in my hidden resources. I am not evangelical and I don't appreciate having books put into my library I don't ask for.

Cool! I was hoping to see some sort of demo to know what to expect. I preordered the deal this week.

While I appreciate that Logos provided a free examination of this resource, I share your concern. We own our computers. Logos should ask for permission before adding non-purchased books to our libraries. Logos should provide us with the opportunity to approve or disapprove.

Logos Basic has been kind of fluid since it debuted. Newbies who obtained it and also pony'd-up $10 for one or more of a number of top English bibles later received a pleasant surprise when reverse interlinears (and the accompanying functionality) downloaded. They probably didn't ask for them, but I betcha they're happy about it. I thought in that case, and I think in this case, that Faithlife/Logos practices a balanced blend of generosity and marketing.

CT nowadays is probably not my cup of tea, either, but I'm on the fence as to whether I want to throw a c-note for the historical value. I wonder how long I have to procrastiruminate?

I was very pleasantly surprised to receive this. I had thought it was because I ordered the complete CT collection on prepub.

Not sure why anyone would object to it being sent out, when you can simply hide it if you don't like it. But why not scan through the contents first as there are many articles that even a "non-evangelical" would enjoy?

Thanks Logos.

I kind of asked for it when ordering Logos Basic, and I'm glad I got it so I can sample the CT bundle before its release.

It's beyond my comprehension why people complain when they receive something for free, especially when it's dead easy to hide.

Thanks FL for this temporary gift.

I don't mind free stuff at all. I have received  some useful books from the free books every month. What I do mind is it not having to choose what I receive. It is my library and my time. I don't have time to waste on hiding books I didn't ask for or having to come here and find an answer to why this was sent to me in the first place or checking my wish list and making sure it wasn't something I ordered and had forgotten about. Why should I have to do all the leg work when a simple email of explanation or a post in the forum with a link would have sufficed. I'm glad you guys are happy with it. But this is not in my field of interest or work flow. A simple heads up from Faith life  would have sufficed and saved me the time from complaining about it on the forumBig Smile

Hi Lonnie,

You're right, we should have given a heads up before we added the license to Logos Basic. In the future, we will do a better job of communicating any changes beforehand.

My apologies!

Hi Robert,

The CT archive won't ship until closer to the end of the year, but I highly suggest to place your preorder now so that you can get a free one-year subscription to the magazine in either print (if you live in the US) or digital. That free subscription offer is only valid if you (1) place your order before June 15th and (2) your order is successful when we ship the product. Once it ships, we'll send you info on how to claim your free subscription.

Hope that helps in your decision making!

And let me add to that, in case you're undecided, pre-order now anyway, and if you make up your mind later, you can still cancel if your decision is that you don't need the CT package after all.

Thanks. I'll go ahead and pre-order. One of the benefits of being old is I'll forget about it by the end of the year and won't vacillate about the purchase.

That's great. Love it. Don't let the naysayers and perpetually critical people affect your free giveaways in the future. They can always be hidden - literally a process that takes 30 seconds (eyeroll).

No, I think you have the right to add to packages as you see fit. It would be another thing if I spent money on a package and then you remove key resources I paid for.
If you don't want it, it would take less time to remove it by hiding it than it takes to wine about it here.
