To clarify my query, I will describe exactly what I do.

I open Verbum, then click 'Bible Word Study ' in Guide. I enter g:niga and from the drop-down menu  I select νικάω 'in all passages'. I get results in NRSVCE, even though NAB is my preferred Bible, but from Setttings I see I can get NABRE, but not NAB.

In Translation I see results, but what Greek version is used? I would like NA27 w/GRAMCORD.

Thanks for all replies in the past and  I would appreciate a clarification.

Others may correct me, but the Bible selected for BWS-Translation will be a reverse interlinear, and your preferred, if your preferred is a reverse interlinear. Your preferred is the NAB, not an interlinear, and ergo won't produce results. The software then grabs the next reverse interlinear preference,  NRSV.  Not what you wanted. If your preferred were NABRE (which is mine), then that's what would be used.

Also, the NT greek reverse interlinears use Logos' morphology ... locked in, just for info.

I'm guessing you'd want to do a morph search, where your NA27/Gramcord can be matched up with your NAB?

A quick access is the Textual Search section of your BWS .... select New Testament. Then change the greek NT to NA27Gramcord, and the parallel to NAB.

Just to further clarify some points:

Noel Fitzpatrick:
I get results in NRSVCE, even though NAB is my preferred Bible, but from Setttings I see I can get NABRE, but not NAB.

Prioritization affects results as BWS will use by default:

  • your preferred Reverse Interlinear English bible (e.g. NRSV, NRSVCE, NABRE) in the Translation section, as these provide results in English from Greek and Hebrew words.
  • your preferred Reverse Interlinear LXX bible (e.g. Logos LXX, LXX Swete) in Septuagint Translation section, as these provide results in Hebrew (with English glosses) from Greek words.
  • your preferred Greek Bible and preferred Hebrew bible for NT/OT searches in Textual Searches section. It also uses your preferred LXX bible for LXX searches (it doesn't have to be a Reverse Interlinear LXX).

Section Settings can change these defaults (as you found), but NAB cannot be used because it is not a Reverse Interlinear bible.

If you need to know more about Prioritization see https://wiki.logos.com/A_Sample_Prioritize_List.

The NT of Reverse Interlinear bibles like NRSVCE, NABRE uses Greek from different Greek bibles, but the Logos Greek Morphology is used throughout.

You can make  NA27 w/GRAMCORD your preferred Greek bible and it will be used in NT Textual Searches.
