I found myself a bit confused by the Ashhur/Hur entry because the parentage of the LXX was followed rather than the Masoretic and was not tagged as such. I would have assumed that the LXX would be flagged as such and that the Masoretic would also be shown.

Our current database structure doesn't allow recording alternate parentage data. It looks like we've followed the analysis of Anchor and others in assigning Caleb as his father. We have people diagrams that reflect both possibilities, however:

There seem to be two decent choices here:

  • add the family trees to the Factbook page in the See also section so the user sees the two options
  • add the ability to make notes attached to the Factbook page so the user can annotate the problem

The reason this proved to be such a hassle is I was working from Jewish sources and was unaware there was the discrepancy. Because of the nature of the Hebrew Bible, "father of" or "mother of" are usually the distinctives to identify minor characters sharing a name. I assumed that either I was making a mistake or that I had found a tagging error.

I would lean towards pushing for making notes attached to Factbook because that allows users to "take care" of the problem immediately and does not add to your workload. It would also handle alternative spellings of names which I've not been reporting.

Thanks for taking the time to check this out.

FYI, both family tree diagrams are already displayed in the Media section of Factbook.

Thanks, I missed that because I rarely open the media section of any tool.
