This thing is a beast (965 pages of actual text! 1060 total). This is the most robust introduction to the OT in one volume that I have come across. Although it does come from a Catholic perspective, there is something for everyone in here. It looks at history, literature, theology, spirituality, critical issues, history of interpretation, use in the current Catholic lectionary, and is basically a one volume commentary on the most important sections of each book.
The only flaw is that I wish it was longer!
