I was searching phrase "root word" in Logos basic search in "everything" but surprisingly after the results were displayed, the logos started running very slowly and was found lagging and taking too much time in responding to other tasks.  Even the display of text on hovering mouse was shown at the top of page rather than near the mouse pointer (see screenshot 2). I had to end the search for Logos to become responsive. But the same search was done using basic search in "All resources" without affecting performance. I could not understand why Logos became unresponsive using the earlier search (screen shot attached). I have the optimum PC config of Core i7, windows 10, 16 GB RAM. Has anybody experienced this?

Don't know, but some thoughts/questions:

  • What kind of hard drive do you have? SSD? How large? How much free?
  • Searching everything will be taxing on your system... and there will be visual highlights on everything, so it will tax your system more graphically too.
  • Logs would be needed to diagnose more. See my signature line. Enable logging then reproduce issue.

I have Logos installed on SSD with almost 300 GB still free. I have found that searching issue is only with the phrase "root word" in "Everything". For other more common words like say "Jesus" in "Everything", Logos behaves normal. I find it strange. May be some issue with "root word" only. Logos also does not crash or ends. It just becomes slow. Will the log help if it is not crashed?

You don't have quotes around your search string. Does that make a difference?

I searched keyword "root word" without quotes only. It is mentioned just to make it specific.

Searching everything for two words without quotes means find every occurrence where search boundary (e.g. chapter, article, ...) has both words anywhere, which is a very broad search. Suspect a broader search is looking for definite and indefinite articles: the a

Proximity operators can reduce search scope: "root word" is the same as root BEFORE 1 WORD word while root WITHIN 3 WORDS word is a bit broader.

Thanks. Two things: Logs aren't only for crashes... they are a "written" description of what is going on. Secondly: Don't use .rar zip format as it creates a barrier to opening up the file.

The logs don't reveal any issue. My 8th Gen i5 with SSD was slower than yours in searching for root word, but I did not experience your problem. If you experience that with other large searches, let us know.

Thank you Keep Smiling 4 Jesus :). The search worked fine with quotes. It seems that logos was lagging only because the search scope was so broad that it affected the performance...YesBig Smile
