Logos 8 (Mac/High Sierra) crashes at startup – always!

I cannot run Logos 8 any longer, after a no-problem experience for almost one day. The app crashed after clicking a link in Factbook, and after that it does not function any longer. It shows an empty homepage for a few seconds and then quits suddenly. I restarted my computer, reinstalled Logos 8… nothing works.

Sorry to hear you are having problems.

Please enable diagnostic logging as per https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015776171-Report-a-Problem-in-Logos-Mac and post logs in a reply to this thread after a crash.

This appears to be a crash in the home page. I've reported it to the team.

If you hold down the Cmd key when starting the application, it should bypass the home page and open to a blank layout. Does this work around the crash for now?

Bradley's suggestion should work to avoid loading the home page. Once the app is open if you open Factbook to a new entry that is not a cultural concept then you should be able to use the home page again. The crash was specific to the Temple Tax cultural concept, but it could happen with other cultural concepts as well. We will have a fix for this soon and will update this thread when it is available. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Lawrence and Bradley solved the problem for me. The key is to open Logos once with Cmd, evade tax, esp. temple tax, type in a new non-cultural topic into Factsbook (I put in Pharisees just to tease them), and after that I can quit and reopen Logos in normal mode and use the homepage again. A big thanks for your quick and expert advice!

This has been fixed in 8.0 SR-1.

A big thank you! Big Smile Logos 8 is such a great user experience! A quantum leap forward from Logos 7.
