Looking for some resources that co-relate the 'mystical' experiences of a seer and his/her vision down throughout history.
Uses of shrooms and other psychedelics highly sought after.
mm. (mm does not stand for magic mushrooms -hmmm).
in Logos or in general?
Mircea Eliade's Shamanism seems like the obvious starting place. A more recent recommendation would be William Richards' Sacred Knowledge: Psychedelics and Religious Experiences. He has a Divinity Masters and Psychology PhD and is probably one of the most respected voices on the topic.
I don't think thats something its ever occurred to me to research. When I get to my laptop later I'll run a search and see what I can find if someone doesn't beat me to it.
Well there was that DSS scholar that kind of went off the deep end:
The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross: A Study of the Nature and Origins of Christianity Within the Fertility Cults of the Ancient Near East (1970)
But I can't actually recommend that...nor the pop versions like Graham Hancock's Supernatural: Meetings with the Ancient Teachers of Mankind.
The above is really all I can recommend. (Though there are some good history -- less psychology or theology -- books on Marsh Chapel for example).
I have Allegro's books. Yeah not too sure that Jesus was a mushroom.
Hancock is a bit of a goof along with all his peeps that smoke the same tobaccie.
More interested in those that left this astral plain and [were] 'was taken' up by either the Ultimate or by an ingestion. More along the line of what is commonly called the 'astral prophets.' Both within the first covenant and the second.
Also, looking for the spiritual guides, elders, shamans, ……. who met Others behind the veil of what we see with our physical eyes.
Hope that helps

Try a search of your library for Peyote.
This one looks interesting but too rich for my blood.

Great book, but the milkman would have to sell more of the white stuff (not the nose candy) to purchase it. Added it my wish list.
thanks for the lead.
