I know you can import a docx file into a personal book.

Is there any way to import a personal mp4 file into Logos?

What about EPUB and PDF?

I know I could convert the EPUB to docx using Caibre.

I am open to better ideas from those who have converted a number of personal books. Is there someone that has created a good workflow for converting public domain and open source books into personal books?

I miss the command to send from Kindle to Logos.

This has been long suggested by us users to do more than just DOCX but currently that is all that is available.

There was never that! There was a send from Logos to Kindle... quite different!

The problem is that many of these files aren't good quality ones with OCR. In many cases they are photographs of print pages and not in any sort of digital text. In other cases the OCR is quite poor, which means missing letters and misspellings (more than what was in the original text).

I've done quite a few personal books, but I haven't found a consistent work-flow yet.  There are just too many variables.  It all depends on the quality of the original file.  Sometimes a pdf is easier to convert than an epub. If someone has found an efficient way of doing doing the conversion, I would also be happy to learn.

Yeah. I realized it shortly after I posted it. But I decided to just let it go. It would have been cool if it were possible to send Kindle books into Logos.

I've done it manually once before. Copied and pasted as much text as the Kindle limit would allow, and then did screen OCR of the rest of the book, all into a Word document. Then fixed up the OCR errors and formatting. It was really time consuming. Not sure it was worth it, since I haven't used the book since.

I think I did one or more of those some years back, using Calibre to convert the kindle file format. It was more a proof of concept but it was quite easy.

The problem with the protections on digital books on tablets is that most tablets let you take screenshots.  By By protections. Hello OCR.

A reminder that while there are methods to get Kindle books to Logos they violate the copyright and use agreements of those Kindle books in most cases.
