The other Biblical Entity Guides give me a comprehensive list of the places the data occurs e.g. all references to God, all references to Dove ... However, Biblical Events only shows those in my passages rather than all occurrences as I would expect. Is that a bug? Yes, it is as per the Help file.

"Events occurring — Lists events that are part of the narration of the guide’s key passage. For example, the event "Jesus ascends into heaven" is narrated in Mark 16:19-20, Luke 24:44-52, and Acts 1:4-11" Verbum Help (Bellingham, WA: Faithlife, 2018).

The Biblical People, Places, Things, and Events sections are some of the oldest sections in the Passage Guide, dating from Logos 4.0 (or Logos 5.0 for Biblical Events).

While they may seem “new” in Logos 8 because they're individually accessible from the Guides menu, they have not been significantly updated in 5+ years. (Which may be why many of the features you expect to see aren’t implemented.) We’ll log your suggestions/bug reports for a potential future overhaul of those sections, but it’s probably not going to happen soon.

But I would expect the feature to match the documentation especially if it is old so there's been time to get it right.

I am aware of this ... but giving them new visibility in the Workflows makes it more important that they work properly. Workflows will be the introduction of new users to Logos ... and you don't want to make a bad impression. I'd expect emphasis on the bugs that are highlighted by the workflows. N.B. I'm simply working through the sections in alphabetic order .... documenting how it works, and how it doesn't.

MJ. Smith:
to match the documentation

I nowhere see in the documentation that it “lists events and all parallel passages that they occur in.” It just lists events in the passage used as the Guide key, which is precisely what the documentation says.

The documentation gives examples of passages on which you can run the Guide that will show that event. It does not prescribe the output format.

Would it be a great enhancement? Sure! Factbook is more useful. Is it described (or promised) by the documentation? No.

When run on a Bible passage, the section’s main view consists of two lists:

Events occurring — Lists events that are part of the narration of the guide’s key passage. For example, the event "Jesus ascends into heaven" is narrated in Mark 16:19-20, Luke 24:44-52, and Acts 1:4-11.

Events mentioned — Lists events that are mentioned within the guide’s key passage. For example, the same event, "Jesus ascends into heaven," is mentioned in Acts 10:42, 11:16, and 1 Peter 3:22.1

1  Verbum Help (Bellingham, WA: Faithlife, 2018).

My apologies. I didn't mean to irritate you. I read the list of passages in the above quote as to imply I would see a list of passages. I had initially not considered it a bug but when I read Help, I modified my post.

I'm not irritated at all! On the contrary, I'm greatly enjoying pointing out the logical fallacies in your post. Big Smile
