If you didn't get one, a call to sales might sort things out

Thanks for that Mark!  I called my sales man and I should have gotten the email offering it but didn't; so they are going to honor that offer.    I will be downloading the upgrade-today.

There was an upgrade offer that was emailed to all owners of the original ACCS, Vol. 1.

I am not sure why I did not get an upgrade offer by email & I do have Accs, Vol. 1.? All is well, I have made contact with Logos.

Thanks, Kent!  I did and am all set.   As usual, great service by Logos sales and customer service.  Geeked

I have successfully got my upgrade - it looks great. But I was a little dismayed to discover that it is not yet a Logos 3 resource. I guess I don't mind too much if it is eventually .... but will it be? As a big fan of L3, this matters to me.

I kind of feel a little disappointed about this ... as I don't remember seeing anything about this not being a L3 resource, until after I had paid, and had even received the L4 resource.

Sorry to moan. Logos rules.

Cheers,

Steve

The information at the IVPress site indicates it is a Libronix product. It seems a bit strange that Logos would release this if a 3.0 version were not going to be available. Maybe once the full product is released the 3.0 files will be on the Logos server. Like you, I would want this resource in both formats so I will be interested in the official explanation.

There is a very clear statement a little bit down on the webpage that says:

"Please Note: The Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture (29 Vols.) is available only for Logos 4 users."

Is this a harbinger of not too distant future resource releases?  If this is the case, Logos has just eliminated a base of users that do not have the latest hardware or want to run Libronix on less powerful machines. I could see this as a problem not only here in the U.S. but also in less prosperous countries where people do not have the "latest and greatest" computers or fast internet access.

When I got the email notifying me that the files could be downloaded to Logos 4, I navigated to the "download instructions for previous versions".  When I selected that, Libronix Update came up and I downloaded the license for "Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture: Volume II Download".  No resource files were available.  I, too, would really appreciate an official word on future use in Libronix.

Like Joan I didn't get the update offer e-mail, but a quick e-mail to a Logos sales rep and I was able to get the upgrade pricing information, make a decision, and confirm back to rep I'd like the order processed.   If you have volume 1, and didn't get the e-mail, get in touch with a sales rep.

Especially since Logos 4 is an incomplete product. I do have a license for Logos 4 but do not use it; and won't until the bugs are ironed out and my PBB files are recognized. At that time I may spring for a new computer but not before the application is finished. Everything else I need to run, but L4, runs just fine on the "obsolete" hardware I now have.

The info on the IVPress page can be found here: http://www.ivpress.com/cgi-ivpress/book.pl/code=2480

Maybe they are wrong, but they state that their product runs on the Libronix Digital Library System. The cover of the box shows the Libronix logo. There is nothing on that page about Logos 4. The Logos page is clear about the release being in 4.0 only. So IVP may have bad information on their descriptive page or it (the publisher) is doing something different from what Logos is doing.

This is a significant departure for Logos and yes it seems ominous.

Anyone from Logos or here on the forum know if the $308 price tag will hold up after 10/15/10?

With all the good releases coming out in October, it'd be nice to either be able to wait a little while, or get it on a monthly payment plan without loosing out on the low price.

I know the set offerred on IVPress's website states it's $308, so maybe it will stay that cheap once its released.

Any who has the 12 volume set want to comment on the usefulness of the this set. I have read up on it and am intrigued. I would appreciate input to help me decide if this is something I want to purchase. I am a novice when it comes to early church history. But I'm interested.

I don't have the set. I have, however looked at some of the volumes on Amazon.com. They have the Look Inside feature so you can get a sense of their usefulness. I don't think they are a replacement for a modern set of commentaries, but could be a nice ancillary set.
