Why are tabs so wide on Logos 8?

My layouts have a lot of resources in tabs. On Logos7, they were quite small, so I could see many tabs at once:

But in Logos8, each icon is much larger and wider, with empty space to the right, so they take more space and I can see less of them:

I'm finding that this makes the tabs less usable as I have to do a lot of scrolling. It would be helpful to have an option to restore the old behaviour here.

Faithlife are re-evaluating the tab design because of similar feedback from other users:

In settings, you can set the system (application) sizing to something less than 100% and then increase the resource sizing to something greater than 100%. That's what I've done to mitigate the tab sizing and some other issues in L8.

I agree. I much prefer the old system that used resource abbreviations and only reverted to icons when the panel had many tabs.

Since I don't have the physical books, a small copy of the book cover art does not symbolize the book for me. Even with physical books, I always find a book by its name on the book spine, not the cover art. So cover art is meaningless for all but a very few books.

I also don't like that the tabs are much taller. This wastes valuable screen space.

I was disappointed that FL went this direction...it's frustrating to lose vertical space on laptop screens.

I've noticed that other users have gone to 90% Program scaling (myself included), and possibly 110% Content scaling.

I add my vote for a return to V/L7 tab behaviour.

I also agree with regards to this issue. another issue I have is with the way that the top sizing works. I have  a lot of resources that I have 'pinned' (bookmarked?) to the top of the program for quick access when I need to open up an often used resource. In L7 the top buttons seemed to be smaller. I often put Logos on only half of my screen and fill up the other half with excel spread sheets or word documents. With L7 I could still see my pinned resources enough in this half size mode to scroll through them and choose the one I needed. But with L8 I can't see them at all, forcing me to either open up my library, or resize Logos to choose the resource and then resize to go back to my work. Extra time that I did not have to spend before. my laptop only has a 13in screen, which means I need all the real estate I can get.

Here is how it looked in L7: (Notice upper right corner where there is a list of resources that I can see)

Here is how it looks in L8: (Notice the huge Logos symbol that takes up a lot of space)

I think the new design looks great... but it is far less functional for us who have smaller screens.

My problem is similar, but with a different twist. I never seemed to have this problem in L7, but so often when I click on an icon to select a different open resource (I may have as many as 10 open) instead of clicking on the icon I miss and hit the X that closes the resource. Why I am now having this problem rather than in 7 I do not have a clue. I just know that somehow it is different.

Many users experience this problem. The tab width incorporates the close X, even when not visible. L7 did not incorporate the close X.

Now that the L8 intro discount is coming to an end, do we have any updates on 1) the tab width issue and 2) the Notes sort by reference feature?  Specifically, I am looking for Faithlife rep or someone with inside information to let us know if the tab width issue is definitely going to be changed and what the best guess is on the rollout date for it and the Notes sort by reference fix.

I am among those who downgraded to L7 after testing the L8 waters. I'm strongly considering the L8 upgrade, but these two issues are extremely important to me.

the Notes sort by reference feature?

At https://faithlife.com/posts/1685223, Phil Gons said they hope to start beta testing this soon.
