Hi Dave,

It is the same syntax that worked with the Old Notes system in Logos 7. Here is an example of the syntax for search for a specific Highlighting Style {Highlight Highlighter Pens/Brown Highlighter}. To search within a Highlighting Style you use the same UI as in Logos 7. Here is a screenshot.

Could you tell us what you clicked on to get that popup?

It is dubious to claim it is a "new"  feature when it assumes knowledge of what was available as a Search feature in Logos 7.

The same lack of clarity applies to "old Notes commands". Are you saying that there are Open, Add and Create  commands for Notebooks? How do Notebooks work with "saved positions, history, favorites, etc."?

I think that Restored Features should be described in relation to Missing Functionality in https://www.logos.com/faq/notes for the benefit of all users.

We were using this in terms of New to Logos 8. I'm sorry if this was not clear. I'll talk with the team and see if we should revise how we categorize release notes.

Before if a link was saved in Favorites from the old notes documents it would open the document. Now those will open the Notes Tool if that is turned on. I did reword the note to make it clear.

Thank you, Dave, for strongly requesting clarity.

In defense of Sister Philana, clarity is a difficult goal to achieve. What might be clear to me is opaque to others.

On the other hand, you wouldn't want to be told how to build a clock when you only want to know what time it is.

There's a delicate balance in there. Somewhere.

Thanks for understanding Jack, there is a balance that we strive for and it's hard to know what works. I appreciate the feedback.

Not when it is restored functionality. Either way, shouldn't you describe how one performs the Search!?

Sorry, Philana you only changed one word ("commands" to "links").  Above, you describe old Notes links in Favorites, which I understand, but where do links for "saved positions, history, etc." come from? Are these all related to the link in Favorites? Does the link in Favorites open Notes tool to the Notebook that was the old Notes document?

We try to avoid using release notes as a mechanism for communicating that kind of detail. We prefer release notes to be a brief summary of changes.

Yes, because I understood that it was the word "commands" that was confusing, in your description you mentioned commands you would expect to use in the command bar. The terms in parenthesis describe examples of where the links occur. For example, saved positions are things such as favorites. Also notes saved in a layout will open to the position it was saved in. Shortcuts in the toolbar for a specific Notebook will open the new Notes Tool.

Yes, there were no Notebooks in old notes. It will open the corresponding Notebook in the Notes Tool.

Thank you for clarifying. And it was really necessary for me, an experienced user, to have that explanation.

I think that these notes were too brief, and need explanation/clarification; especially when they claim to be New features.

Search parameters such as searching all text in all resources for    {Highlight <stylename>} WITHIN {Highlight <stylename>}     were sooooooo powerful and are now gone in 8, any chance you know of a new way to complete the similar task?

Those searches are coming back in Logos 8.2 (this is a forum thread about beta testing that feature in 8.2).
