John Fidel:

The video is excellently done and Mark is to be commended for his ability to write and present himself well in front of the camera.

Only nit... it appears that the camera lens was not clean when shooting him against the blue background. There are smears on the upper left side of the screen. It is not my screen as these moved consistently as the camera zoomed in.

Good work.

I'm pretty sure that's the intentional style of it. I don't think a smudge would have made it through green screen post-production.

Fredc:
The only thing I was a little put off by were the role playing scenes (i.e. game show host, lab specialist, etc.). I'm sure many might find those entertaining, but I thought they were a little hokey.

At heart, I am an Independent Fundamental Baptist, but I serve in an SBC church because the KJV cult controls the IFB churches in this area. So, Put me in the first group. I don't have a ten year old daughter, like Jacob, but I found them to be not just entertaining, but also very convincing. Perhaps, I am in the midst of my second childhood Stick out tongue but I really liked the video.

Thanks for all the thoughtful feedback!

If you like it, we'd appreciate your sharing it with others.

People can watch it free with a Faithlife TV Plus trial, or everyone in your church can watch it (AND everything on Faithlife TV Plus, AND all the Logos Mobile Ed videos (!!!!)) with a Faithlife TV Church subscription: https://faithlifetv.com/church

FWIW, I think this is the best value we've ever offered in terms of amount of content for the number of people for the price....

I would be counted among the number of people who knew about Faithlife TV but didn't watch it very often, but I was so impressed with this episode that I made a post in the General Forums - http://community.logos.com/forums/t/178438.aspx not realizing that this thread had been established.

Since you asked for a review I'll repeat what I said -

Bruce Dunning:

I'd just like to give a shout out to Faithlife TV for the episode called "Authorized - The Use and Misuse of the King James Bible" featuring Dr. Mark Ward.

I must confess that I don't watch Faithlife TV very often but somehow I was attracted to this and was thoroughly impressed. He approached the whole topic in a respectful, yet humorous way which really provides great teaching about how to view different Bible translations - especially the KJV. Well done!

I'm quite late posting my take on the film Authorized. I enjoyed the film, though the type of humor wasn't something I favored (seemed a little silly to me).  However, I did appreciate Mark's clear presentation. It reminded me of my experience many years ago. I was working with people in a very poor section of a large city down South (where the KJV was the Word of God and all other versions were not). Most of the people that I was working with could not understand the KJV and I was getting frustrated. I ended up using a newer English translation that greatly helped in their understanding the Bible. Unfortunately, many of my friends and  church members wondered why I had abandoned the Word of God. Perhaps an over simplification but it's not far from what I experienced. I really appreciated how Mark's use of the origin of the NIV clarified the importance of having Bible translations that help people understand the scriptures.

I think this is a great venue for promoting other books. I would certainly like seeing previews on Faithlife TV.

Grace and Peace,

Daniel Bender

I enjoyed it but I do not understand who you can seriously approach the subject without at least addressing textual criticism which underpins many of the translation issues.

The film did not really address what many people see as the central issue.
