I've heard MM will be completely different this year. Any rumors?
I agree. Good thing I don't have any money to spend anyway. [:D] I can't afford any of it. I have a pretty good size library, but the cheapest before discount price of the bundles I clicked on was $500. Already have most of the commentaries I want so I am sure this MM will be a hard pass for me.
Bundles it is. That'll save me lots of money. I'm not sure if I'm relieved or disappointed. The format until 2017 used to cost me lots of money as I could buy resources I wanted/needed. Buying bundles of commentary sets (as last year) or bundles of commentaries on a specific book (as this year) costs too much - given they'll include more commentaries than I'll need or want. Yeah, just checked the prices for Logos and Verbum and they're all way outside of my budget, even with 70% off. Gutted.

Same for me... The prices are way too high! I was hoping to get some of the newer commentaries discounted, but I guess I won't be buying anything this year...
Like many others, the bundle size for MM just seems way too much for me, even if they won. That said, I found the Verbum fathers collections smaller, and found a few that would be attractive since I had most of it already (eg. Athanasius), and for better or worse a few where I already had all of the collection (eg. Justin and Irenaeus).
I certainly am rooting for a few Fathers in the Feud...

This is quite the emergency. If the bundles are so big, who's going to buy? Can Logos tweak the sale?

Just wondering, maybe it's Dynamic Pricing Madness? Which would almost mean richies (newbies) and large library folks?
This might spell trouble for the sale.
Or else, break the bundles up, e.g. bundle A, B, C of Habbukuk. By "type" (technical, etc.) or age.
Well there is always putting it on a no-interest, $5/month fee payment plan! I agree with the majority of others though thus far... this sale is bananas. I do hope some people can find a use out of it but the bundles are just too big for my liking. I feel blessed to own the amount of resources that I do at the moment but when I look at some of these bundles I'm getting maybe 25% off w/ dynamic pricing which results in a $500 price tag for only one book of the Bible. Again I hope some can find a good use for this but I do miss the commentary sale from last year.
Oh wells, 2020.

...but seriously...
In a competition between sugar and protein, does protein really have any chance? Word for word, Hh:abhaqquuq is the most important book in the Bible, so expect this to be the most lop-sided bracket of all.
People! Remember the OT was written for our learning (Romans 15:4). Let’s treat it as the Word of God too!
Ok, now, BTW, even with dynamic pricing these bundles are quite expensive. I’ll wait until the end, but I’ll probably won’t be buying anything this March “Matching.” Why did they even change the name. Madness sounded so much better than matching and having the OT take a lopsided beating by the NT. The word of God in a boxing or MMA bout beating itself? Bad name for the contest IMHO

Pretty much. Unless the individual titles inside the bundles are also discounted I can't see how this MM does anything other than cut out most users. Especially church leaders who, whilst most interested in a bundle of commentaries, are not likely to have a huge amount of disposable income to blow on a book bundle.
As my 5-year-old son might say... Bundles are "so lame!"
I've just un-bookmarked MM. As an un-salaried pastor, there's no way I'll be able to afford any bundle - even although I do a bit of work on the side.
This is the worst March contest ever! And it all began by changing the name 😬 what were they thinking? 🤔🙄
Vying for the “Coveted,” Really? I thought both Testaments taught against “Coveting.”
This effort really is March Madness, as the bundles are too highly priced for me to contemplate buying.
In relation to these prices, I am a March Mendicant.
It's not a bad idea. They need to try different things for MM, it was getting stale up until last year. It's nice to get big bundles heavily discounted sometimes. And I like trying to build up my mEd a bit. It is bad timing though, IMO. After just releasing L8, many of us are still making payments. A more modest approach after big release, spacing out the big bundle deals would help. But I'm still interested in a few things here, to see what I can get away with.
Regarding the very expensive bundles, something is seriously NOT adding up (forgive my pun)...
See this post and this post for details on what I mean.
Yeah, looks like too big of a cost for me even after the highest discount. My wife will be happy. [:D]
This is my March Matchness:
Classic Commentaries on Job for $30.

Classic Commentaries in Colossians and Philemon for (hopefully) $10

No way I'm gonna buy one of these expensive bundles.
I agree that these bundles are too highly priced for the average person, even when discounted. Certainly they are for me. This might be the first MM I have not purchased something. [:(]
You might consider casting votes for the 21 Mobile Ed course bundles that all retail between $600 and $300 this year. Just a thought. Here's the Mobile Ed Bracket if you're curious.
I assume you have a typo.

Who dreamed these up?

Check out https://bracket.verbum.com/. Much cheaper!
You are right! Thanks for the heads up.

You're very welcome! I am hoping that very many people vote in this new bracket and then benefit from the works it contains, and also encourage it to be even bigger next year.

I'm sure I'm not alone in breathing a sigh of relief those years when March Madness doesn't hold my interest, particularly when it comes right after a new Logos version release. [;)]
I have just checked out https://verbum.com/products/171924/st-ireneaus-and-st-justin-martyr-collection as an example bundle but I am confused by the Verbum pricing as much as I am by the other bundles ...
The cover graphic says 6 volumes ... which would be about £20 per volume (after dynamic pricing). I am not sure that the word cheaper applies ... except if heavily discounted in the promotion.
The second half of the product page talks of 'collection' (65) and 'another collection' (32) which at first glance implies close on 100 resources ... but then it also gives a £1000 value!
... this information seems to be to be at odds with the 6 actual resources listed ... and very clearly suggest a huge discount rate that is not related to this collection ... not honest marketing or an honest marketing mistake?
I know this has been pointed out WRT the logos.com site, but it also seems to come to Verbum as well. Why are the 65, 32 & £1000 even on this product page info if the larger bundles are not the products being offered?
Or am I wrong, and buying this bundle for £95 will indeed rewards me with all 100 resources?
No it won't.

I think, with "much cheaper", SineNomine was referring to the overall price level of those Verbum MM bundles in comparison to the Logos MM ones. As you found, on the Verbum site, there is an issue with adding up the individual prices if only parts of a bundle are contained. The program erroneously adds up the prices for the Ancient Writers Bundle, the Popular Patristics and the FoC, which together have a hundred books and cost a thousand dollars, even though only six of those are in the bundle. This is bad and should be fixed.
On the other hand, the dynamic pricing calculation seems right. The bundle contains relatively expensive books. I own all except pone, and my dynamic price is exactly the price of that volume ($39,99), which also shows that the bundle has no bundle-discount applied, i.e. there's no discount in buying the bundle instead of the individual books. It was put together just to be discounted in MM.
Agreed - my bracket is completely busted in the first round. I’m out. The high prices bundles with the typical confusion/errors around dynamic pricing, I bet a lot of people will be sitting this one out. It is ok though, I’m still thankful for the great commentary deal last year.

Bingo.
Also true. I verified this for myself with multiple bundles yesterday.
I may have been disappointed by MM, but I've just spotted a commentary set in the Monthly Sale that would have excited me in MM. Whilst "only" 39% off, the set price is discounted compared to the individual volumes collective price. So I can pick up 10 volumes that interested me for half the price I would have paid for them separately and pick up a further 8 volumes for free. (I already own 8 in the series.)

That’s exactly what I’m getting and maybe another set in Spanish 👍😁👌
Round one for Verbum's Church Fathers tournament is complete. Here are the first discounted products: https://verbum.com/feud-of-the-fathers

For the many who only can or want to pick up a couple of titles this MM, perhaps individual titles will be offered at the bundles MM discount, minus 5% or 10% penalty for failing to buy the whole bundle...
