Until Logos 8, I've been grateful for the enhancements in each new version of Logos. This time, I regret having made the change. The worst part for me is the change in how tabs work. I tend to keep three columns open, with multiple resources open in two of them (see screen shot). In version 7, the tabs would stack up and get smaller; hovering over each would reveal a pop up identifying the resource. In v8, the tabs stay larger and spread off screen; to see those off screen tabs, I have to click on the arrow buttons – sometimes 8-10 times just to reveal one tab! Ridiculous! (Used to be that programmers were all about reducing the number of clicks.)

I'm a pretty basic user: a few Bible translations, a few commentaries, and various books that I enjoy having in an electronic version. Logos 8 has made it more frustrating, not less.

If you click and hold, it will scroll.

When still in Beta of 8.0, I remember we were talking about improving the tab scrollability to tab > 1 full tab per click rather than just pixels. This would really improve the experience. But, I think they either decided against it or haven't gotten around to implementing it.

Also, if you have a trackpad that does two finger scroll, you can quickly slide through the tabs rather then clicking the arrow button. Yes

Wow, Randy.

I was a little suspicious about L8, so for the first time since I received my secret Logosian translation ring years ago, I decided to 'stay'.  I'm glad I did , though I 'own' most of L8.

I'm really surprised, months later, L7 still works great, though Bradley has warned that my ring may stop working.

Under layouts click vertical or horizontal? I don't quite get the problem? You want the open tab to be smaller so more tabs can be visibly seen?

Wow, Denise ....

The tabs are a non-issue with me ....but if you have the super "secret Logosian translation ring" I certainly wouldn't mess with it ...

Go to Program settings and then decrease Program Scaling and increase Content Scaling. This will make the tabs smaller (together with the menu etc.). Depending on the screen I am using Logos on, I use either 80 or 90% for the program scaling (with Content Scaling on 120%).

Shhhhh ... the thread title doesn't mention secret translation rings.  Smiling.

I am very happy with Logos 8 (I never knew anything different!) but I do agree with Randy that the arrow to see the off-screen tabs is a little clunky and I hope they can improve it. I also sometimes have three columns either in portrait mode on my tablet, or dragged to the left half of my screen. I can see why they wanted to change it so the tabs didn't get unusably small... However, I still think the current implementation could be improved! Nothing wrong with that, right?

I think a good solution might be for each pane to have a drop-down to show all tabs and select the one you wanted. This could even be a modified Library window showing tabs rather than resources where you can see the tabs visually and even filter them.

Thank you. That's a great discovery.
