I have noticed a number of threads are being hijacked, often by the same users. These threads usually move so far away from the OP,, the title of the thread is meaningless.

If you want to start a discussion that falls within the forum guidelines, start your own thread. If it does not fall within the guidelines, take the discussion elsewhere.

Smile I'm new and just purchased the Ultimate Package. I have a few posts and had to figure out what goes where. Most people here are just looking for answers and it's a happy place to go.....very few negative posts....well for the most part. I would say you could possibly tell your sheep to do those things in that tone (if you are a pastor). As for me (and whoever else)? I have paid and paid and paid again my dues to be on here. I'm gonna post wherever whenever and try to stay within the guidelines. I'm gonna fail sometimes. Posts like the above encourage me to hijack threads because it is comical as life is about so much more than paying $15,000 for software and then being spanked for maybe hijacking a thread. Your post and mine, in the end.....will accomplish absolutely nothing. Except possibly for more hijacked threads......just for fun. Carry on.

Ahhh yes....one of those. Do as I say.....no responding as I am not concerned with what you say....only concerned with how I feel and see things. Responses will garner the "evil" verse. At least we both have something in common....we are are both evil Super Angry humans in need of a Savior. Right back atcha friend.

I do not post much, but I figure I probably hijacked a thread or two over the years.  I will think twice, post once on a new thread in the future.

Fred, did you get up on the wrong side of the bed?

First, nannying never works. It just wakes up people's defensive nature. Successful nannying is always light hearted ... the goal.

Second, the word hijack is an intensional word. Yes, one can accidentally hijack, as well as murder too.

Third, folks want to chat. It happens in Bible class when the most holy of Dieties is the thread title. Our pastor smiles, patiently waits, and then proceeds.

Fourth, if you want to let people know something, a 'hijack' by someone else pops your thread back up. You don't have to go bump, bump, bump.

It's a great morning!

While you may object to the tone I think the suggestion is a good one. As someone who has started threads that then move away from the topic (on this board and others) I liken it to have a face to face conversation with other people and having someone butt in and change the topic. It's not courteous. It's one thing if the conversation naturally progresses but typically it's a lot more jarring then that.

As to the amount of $ you've spent meaning you're entitled to do what you like in your treatment of others....really? is that what you truly think?

Is there a Logos resource that would help me apply the Bible to deciding what to eat for dinner?

Was waiting on that one.....Logos is amazing and I love this place. It is also a business and runs on cash. It took a big hit today. So I objected to someone's tone and you kindly let me know the tone may be off but the suggestion is a good one. That is true. Now, IRONICALLY, you object to me saying I paid my dues in whatever manner I wish to express and will post like everyone else? Wondering if I would make such a huge investment in BIBLE software if I felt that way about others. And the last person you would ever use the word "entitled" with would be me. Enough said there. I wouldn't be here if I thought so little of others. I don't think anyone would. We all love the Lord so much. But we are nasty humans, lol. 1) I object to tone 2) you agree tone may be harsh but understand the suggestion is a good one 3) you object to my tone and instead of directing your objection at the tone and understanding that my concern might be founded, you ACTUALLY go ahead and attack me. So you accomplished what we all really didn't want to do....attack each other because we are believers. I had a posting disagreement with the initial poster. Now you have personally attacked me and I have a personal disagreement with you. You LITERALLY put words in my mouth via your own personal interpretation of my post. You sir, owe me an apology. You really do.

How would you interpret this? My post was asking a question - do you really think this? Is asking for clarification an attack?

Keep in mind that most of us like you have invested significant $ in Logos and the majority of people on the board are uses - not Faithlife staff. If we are asking a specific question is it reasonable for us to all to help each other out to keep things on topic on a particular thread? I for one find it helpful not just in the short term if it is something I'm looking for help with but also longer term search through the archives to see if my question has already be asked and answered.

To your point though I do also like that this is generally a fairly amiable place to visit.  And sometimes we make errors in terms of where we post. That's different to intentionally not caring though. It sounds like you really don't think that :)

I hijacked a thread a few days ago and did so deliberately, although, before anyone judges, I think without malice or evil intent. I knew the guidelines and broke them.  My comments shifted substantially from the OP. At the time I thought my reason was justifiable.

1. My hijacking did not work well and had minimal effect.

2. I was both encouraged meaningfully and regret hijacking that thread. I am sorry.

3. I still revisit the thread daily (silly me) that I hijacked, hoping for a good outcome.

Sometimes we don't know a person's context or reason for saying what they do and their motive may not be as evil as it appears to the casual reader.

May we be gentle, kind and gracious.

As weird as it sounds.....this is a safe place for me. I would dare say almost ALL of the people who visit here have a financial investment in their love for the Lord. Please don't take that wrong. I love it because these aren't people who say they love Him....their money is where their mouth is and they are true believers. That is a comfort to me to know that and that almost all the time I am participating in a place where everyone is REAL believer in JESUS. Again, not because of money - but in spite of money. People here would give their money AND their life for Him. There are not many places like this on the web. I think that's why the initial post hit me so wrong. So different than what I'm used to here. But I get it....a human posted it. And a human of the worst kind without the Lord responded...haha. Thank you for your kind response. I try to watch hijacking anything except my daughter's Cheezits.

I agree 110%, Fred.  I simply don't understand and certainly don't appreciate Robert's response.  In fact, I was rather stunned by it.  Since when does the money I've spent on Logos give me the right to hijack the thread started by another Logos user who has also spent money on Logos.  It's not only disrespectful to the original poster (which is bad enough by itself), but it is disrespectful of every Logos user who opens the link whether in an effort to help the OP or simply to follow the thread out of interest based on the thread title

Lol.....gotta keep it fired up don't you!!!? Not only am I disrespectful for forming my own opinion, I'm disrespectful to the whole Logos community!! It's sad you even had to open the link and be exposed to such exchange on information and ideas! If you would have read the entire exchange, you would have seen the truth in the posts. It's a shame I had to read and address your not reading all of the posts (which is obvious) and your "hit and run". Way to go sticking up for one Christian brother over another. You read you learn.....you learn by reading. Shame on you for firing it all up again.

Read all the posts before responding.  That's my usual approach.  Smile

It gets discouraging to open links based on the titles of the threads, only to find the threads have been hijacked and no longer correspond to the thread titles.  It can be a real time-waster, and as I move into the winter of my life, I find myself not wanting to waste a moment of it.

I believe all Fred was requesting is that we try to be courteous to the OP and considerate of other readers who take the time to open and read threads based on the thread titles.  I do believe that's the purpose of thread titles isn't it?  Not hijacking threads seems like a very basic courtesy that benefits all.

This will be my last post in this thread.  No hit-and-run motive here.  Just don't want to waste any more time posting on the topic.
