Copying and pasting a quote is fine, but sometimes I just want to insert a footnote to a paraphrase. Is that possible?

If all you want is the bibliographic information (with the appropriate page number), just cut and paste a word to get that, and then replace it with your paraphrase or add it to an already existing paraphrase, ditch the word and keep the footnote.
