8.5 RC2 release notes say that support was added for a new resource type, but don't indicate what that might be. Seems like a tease!

It sounds like it must be some kind of commentary. Perhaps a lectionary commentary?

Study Bible.

Rather than lump Bible Notes and Study Bibles into a single metadata type we're splitting them into two categories.

Study Bibles will tend to be the notes in what publishers often market as "Study Bibles". Generally speaking Study Bibles will be targeted toward a general audience, be specific to a particular version of a Bible, and cover the entire Bible.

Bible Notes will most likely be limited in focus, not tied to a particular version/translation, and usually not targeted toward a mass audience.

When we make the switch we'll let you know. I'm sure some of you have collection rules you'll want to update.

One of the big things on our end was to make sure "Study Bible" will continue to appear in the Passage Guide.

So the "Study Bible" type will appear together with the Bible Notes type in the Commentaries section?

I have a different question ... with the exception of The Numerical Bible, my Bible Notes used to be nothing but Study Bibles.  When did what I'd call study guides starting appearing in Bible Notes rather than Bible Commentary where the vast majority of them appear?

Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."

This change hasn't taken place yet. Admittedly this isn't a change that will affect a high number of resources (i.e. we don't have many resources that have the Bible Notes resource type) and most of those that currently have the Bible Notes resource type will change to Study Bible.
